I am looking for a new range bag, up 'til now I have been using what is essentially a heavy duty nylon grocery bag with a couple of side compartments.  I mostly shoot at home but I just joined a conservation club and might shoot there when the sun is setting behind my backstop.  I am not to worried about carrying allot of ammo in the bag, mostly hearing protection for myself and my two buys, a folder with targets, tape, markers, small cleaning kit, range finder, shooting glasses, a few misc. tools and a place to put spent brass.

I want to keep things better organized than the current bag allows.  I like having all the shooting stuff in one bag so I can grab and go with everything but firearms and ammo in one place.  Maybe I'm further ahead just using and old duffel bag, I just don't have one small enough for that roll.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

S-1

I have one I bought from a dillion dealer many years ago, but I way overpaid for it IMO. I would look for some sort of generic nylon bag if it were me.

I've been happy with the one I got from Dillon ten or twelve years ago.  Shaped more like a diaper bag than a range bag - OPSEC.

I actually use two seperate range bags.

For the pistol range, I run a Tag-Force Range Bag. I originally paid $20, but I think they're up to $40 now:

If it's the rifle ranges, I'm using Blackhawk Enchanced Pro Shooters Bag:

Using both depending on what I'm shooting has made things simpler when it comes to loading stuff up. But if you are looking to hold letter sized folders and carrying gear for more than just you, then I'd recommend the Blackhawk. Retail is about $75, but you'll only need to buy it once.

My recommendations, of course. YMMV though.

I use large generic plastic tool boxes for shooting rifles on the range.  Retains shape under ammo loading, no issues from putting on the ground (water, mud, etc...), the removable top shelf can hold tools and other less bulky stuff.

Form is following function.

That's what I do as well.  Plus, if a bottle of lube or cleaner leaks, it is easy to clean out.

It's as good as the day I bought it, no tears, failures.

But it's a hundred bucks now. Today I'd look for an alternative.

This right here.

One of the Home Depot "Homer" orange plastic tool boxes has served me very well. They're like 12 bucks so you can have 2 or 3 loaded for different types of shooting and leave them that way. Don't have to worry about them getting muddy, or cut or whatever. Hose them out and you're gtg.

Yep!
I bought one of those when they were on sale for $40.
This thing is by far the best bang for the buck!
It's a huge range bag with inserts, padded pockets, water holder, magazine loops, you name it - it holds everything I need and more...
I recommend it highly.

I run an old iShot range bag for pistols.  They don't have it on their site any more.  Holds 2 guns and 12 magazines in the main compartment.  I squeeze 3 guns and ~15 magazines in there.   Eyes, ears, spare ear plugs and some parts/tools.  Illegal to transport ammo and firearms in the same compartment in Ohio (without CCW).

Their older bags were better and a notch smaller.  I bought the newer version like you have pictured and was disappointed.  The molle on the sides had screwed up spacing and it was just a pain in the ass to lug around.

Get the smallest bag that will do what you need to do.  Ideally get a bag for each event that you shoot so you don't have to swap out gear.

Yup, they're great bags.  They also have a smaller version now.
Only downside to them is Everyone and their brother has this bag and I found myself digging around in my bag looking for something, and held up a nice Open Division STI and said 'Wtf, this isn't mine....oooooo....wrong bag, sorry.'

I sewed a bunch of gun related patches on mine so that I can tell it apart.

I am not sure how often they do. I got mine through some group buy/S&W Promo on another forum. I haven't seen another group buy like that since. Having the bag now and knowing the quality, I would not hesitate to pay the 80 bones for a new one if I needed another, they are imho that well built and worth it.

I really dont want to be that guy
but a long time ago before I knew any better I bought that CTD range bag they sell for $10-15
has held up just fine carrying way more than it was designed for
4 pistols and 5-600 rounds is its normal haul capacity along with all the essential range day needs.
wished it had mag pouches..the next bag will

all that being said its up to you to do business with them...lol

Same. I won a Custom Green Mountain bag at the first USPSA section championship I shot.  Whenever I buy a new pistol, I typically get one of their pistol rugs and I send them a manufacturers patch to sew on it.
