First, I have to beg your indulgence. I am a deployed soldier and not really connected too much to what's happening back in "the world". As I sat at lunch today, one of my fellow soldiers made the comment "better buy those mags for your M1A, 0bma is going to ban them." Of course I ran back to the office to check in here and see if there was anything on the topic. I had to let my membership lapse and the search feature sucks here now if you aren't a paying member, and I got nowhere.
So, if somebody could talk me off the window ledge right now, or confirm it so I know, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Thank you for your service. Nothing to worry about, every since Congresswoman Giffords was shot there have been calls from the usual suspects in the Dem party for a ban on "high" capacity magazines, but it is going nowhere and they don't have the votes to pass a ban. |

IMO, the biggest worry we have right now is a worldwide UN resolution to restrict small arms. This means universal registration TO START; more will come later.
Such a treaty must be ratified in the Senate before it is binding on U S citizens. Keep your eyes open. |

I have not heard of a ban, I have heard at this point the dems are afraid of what would happen if they tried. OP, Log Out and then back in please. And thank you for your service. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile HOLY CRAP!!! You made my day! I just posted in another thread and saw my avatar pop! I was like WTF!?!?!?!?! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! When my twins were born in March of 2010, I had to make some budget cuts and my ARfcom membership got put on the chopping block. I have regretted it ever since. Jeez, you're about to make a grown man cry! Thanks a million!!! |

Earlier this year, there was a push by anti-gun groups to pass some draconian magazine bans at the state level. For example, in CT, there was a bill on the table to ban the possession of any magazine (or ammo links) with greater than ten round capacity. This bill was an outright ban - you would have had to get rid of them without any compensation or face felony charges. Similar bills cropped up in MD, NY, and VA, IIRC. The CT bill was monkeystomped after several hundred pissed off gun owners showed up in person to testify against it and likely thousands more bombarded legislators with e-mails. Several prominent (and ordinarily anti-gun) dem state lawmakers saw the light and actually changed their minds on voting for bill. This happened in arguably the bluest of blue states, albeit at a good time (post-Heller and McDonald). Therefore, you should have hope that none of this shit will pass muster at the federal level. Knock on wood. |

The anti-gunners are just starting to spin up their BS again. It probably won't go anywhere unless Obama wins again and the Dems gain more seats. I've read stuff about executive orders... but what really concerns me is another four years of lame-duck Zero in charge, trying to cement his status as a great Liberal President. Now I am hopeful that the Rs can maintain a majority in the House and Senate... But still, I hold no hope that the Rs won't make a compromise deal to save something else. |

There are few things more dangerous than a lame duck executive. Just look at what Republican Deukmejian did to California in the closing months of his term! |

I don't trust HuffPo for much, but given their knob-slobbing love for all things liberal, this is probably as on the mark as it gets for this story...
