You need to remove "ubuntu one", ASAP. If you don't use it, don't ask why, just get that mother off your system ASAP. If you do, then whatever. |

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne Ubuntu One is a suite of online services from Canonical. The service enables users to store and sync files online and between computers and share files and folders with others using file synchronization. Unlike the traditional storage application and service, what sets Ubuntu One apart is additional features like the integration with other services. Yep, I'm voting PEBCAK as well. Better watch out, OP is gonna flip when he finds out about Google's online apps... But it's gonna be epic once cloud computing is TRULY understood! ![]() Although FWIW, I don't go installing shit when I don't know what it is, or know that I won't use it. Cuts back on the number of problems quite a bit. Why anyone would want to use cloud apps is beyond me... It's OK for things like Pandora, but I sure as hell ain't gonna upload my docs or use remote editors! Talk about security holes... Ubuntu rocks! |

Quoted: PEBCAK, lol. Actually there is a bug that causes x11 to crash, and fucks up communications on ports over 1000. I have you haven't had issues, great. If you don't use it, remove it anyway, because it is phoning home even if you haven't set it up. I wonder how many people realize that chrome sends info back to google whether you have it enabled or not :) |

Quoted: Didn't have it configured, don't have an account. But went ahead and removed it anyway. Can always re-add it when/if they fix the bug. Thanks for the heads up. But do you have a link to the vulnerability / bug report? they haven't released it yet. When they do, I'll update this thread. |

Just checked everywhere and in the dev channels, saw no mention of this... If you submitted it, link the preliminary report so we can take a peek. Run 10.10 (64bit) at work and on one of my other machines at home. Never used One though. |

We are reviewing it in BMMUG, but its pretty damn nasty what what we have seen. the main issue I see is that if you aren't using it, then why the shit is it installed by default! ![]() Many of our test systems, running the latest ubuntu w/updates, are seeing pegged out procs with hoses SSL and ports over 1000. Weird shit. |

I'm a huge linux fan (read, kindof like ubuntu and use it daily), but fuck me running with some the latest decisions made with the kernel and the GUI. BSD... You know you want to... |

i just put ubuntu 11.04 on a laptop. The new interface makes me want to throwup. I ran it on everything back when 10 came out, and it was sweet. I can't stand the interface now. LOL. Same here. Unity made me want to vomit. I still run 11.04, just using Ubuntu Classic upon logging on. |
