Anyone have one of these, im not the biggest Ford fan but I got to give them credit for not selling out like GM did.

Basically just want a daily driver that once in a while can take out into the country or go to home depot and haul smaller stuff.

I kinda want to go with base model but am a little worried it might be gutless.

I test drove one.

Didn't drive well. Felt underpowered.

Then I bought a Toyota Tacoma.

I have a 2010 Ford Escape XLS with the 3.0L V6 bought last summer.

My wife and I were looking for a family friendly vehicle for our baby.

I can't take it off road, can't race it, it is not a tank, BUT it is an excellent city family vehicle. We did not want an uber expensive large SUV that would have piss poor mileage so the Excape's avg 25mpg suited us just fine.

We have been VERY pleased with it.

EDIT: The 2.5L felt very underpowered to me too, the 3.0L has been satisfactory.

I rented one and drove it 1000 miles. Drove well, did it's job, but didn't feel like it had a lot of personality... a little under powered.
The CRV, while under powered, felt more refined and useful.
With that said, I drive a Grand Cherokee.

the 3.0 still gets around 25mpg? that aint bad for a larger vehicle.

Yes sir, our 3.0 averages 25mpg around town. We have been VERY happy with it. IMHO the 2.5L is so underpowered it is worthless, the 3.0L is just about the perfect match of power and mpg.

And the whole frame in the Tacoma will rot away within years. Ask me how I know. Tough to beat Ford quality now a days.

Yeah. I remember that situation.

Toyota then proceeded to buy-back all vehicles in that timeframe, if they had the problem or not, at 1.5x BB value.

My Brother in Law traded his Tacoma in on a brand new 2010 F150. He has been less than thrilled with this "Ford Quality" you speak of.
