Quoted: Do I : Leave early once I get my PTO check? Take a long lunch? Not give a darn? Stay on arfcom till 5? Other? We found out the beginning of July that our group of 5 was going away in Sept. We pretty much did all of the above, including Supervisor.. Had no problems getting to leave to go for an interview or similar. It was pretty much a just ride out the time and don't purposely destroy anything ETA this was in 2007 |

Quoted:
Ever expect to need a reference from your current employer? if so then pretend to work your hours, thank them when they hand over the check, and then leave at the normal time. This. Don't shit on the rungs of the ladder on the way up. You might need to put your hands back on them on your way down. |

I've been here 3.5 years and was offered a better paying job. He understands and can't get mad, as he can't offer the same compensation package. To be honest, if it were not for my massive account load and the need to transition the new guy over to them, he would of let me sit by the pool for my last two weeks. Quoted:
Do your best and give them an honest day's work. Leave with integrity. I am, I really just have nothing to do. My phone and inbox is forwarded to the new guy, so I'm just sitting here staring at my computer. |

Quoted:
If you truly have no work to do or anything else that you can help the new guy with, take a normal lunch and leave at the normal time. Fill the time any way you see fit that you wouldn't mind your new employer knowing about. done. it sounds like my manager is taking myself and a few others to a happy hour after 5. I've made him a lot of money in the past few years. |

I've made him a lot of money in the past few years. End things on a positive and mature note - if only as a service to your coworkers. Be sure to say "so long" to even the regular joes in the cubical as a nice way to end your career there. The world being what it is, you might run into several of them again down the road in varying capacities. Even if you head for the door a few minutes early, walking out with a smile and a kind phrase will be the best course of action for you AND the people you're leaving. Enjoy the new career.

Make sure your desk is cleaned out long before it's time to go home. You don't want some assclowns making you last 15 minutes miserable as you try to get out of the building. did that yesterday... I have a fan on my desk people have been asking about... now who to give it to? |
