So, all joking aside (im pretty secure in my masculinity so I don't mind driving a small efficient car), does anyone have any strong opinions concerning these cars? Good experiences?
I have read reviews and I am considering a 2010 model with 20,000 miles on it for 13500 |

After a year of research, I bought a 2008( Back then) that had 13,000 on it, from the dealer, full warranty. I started out looking at the Jetta, but a class action on the motors turned me off. The Chevy type was korean, and Honda's and Toyos are way more costly. The Ford kept popping up as a winner. Peruse their forums, no major issues. Reviews in the car magazines said it drives like a sport coupe that cost $10000 more. So I bought.
2 1/2 years later, I am happy, totaly satisfied with the car. FOR WHAT IT IS( naysayers stand down) it's a great car. IT handles well, is relatively fast, gets an honest 33 on the high way, 22-25 around town, and everything in the cockpit works well for me. I have 50,000 on mine now with zero issues. Still has the original brakes( which I inspected two days ago, and are around 50%). Downsides; They're a little light on insulation, so they aren't all that quiet inside. Radio blasts away road noise though 8 airbags, steering wheel controls for the sound, cruise, and that bluetooth thing to answer the phone or voice command the radio(SYNC) that I never figured out. The trunk is HUGE, room for the mother in law AND her luggage. The wife's older mini-van started developing "problems" about a year after I bought the Focus, which seem to have self-corrected in the last year that I've been driving it to work and she's been driving the Focus. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.... |

Quoted: We have a 2001 with 286,000 miles on it. and it has been negelected just to see how long it will run the damn thing will not die My 01 was fantastic I traded it with 180K on it on the flip side buddy had a 2011 as a rental when his truck was wreaked it was a cheesy cheap piece of shit IMO |

Quoted: Quoted: If you wait till late 2012, they are bringing out the ST model (turbo). I'm actually excited to see how they price it. I'm waiting for this as well. Hopefully Ford doesn't make it too different than the European model. My fear is that they price the damn thing out of the market. If it comes in at the low 20s (20-22k) I think it will do good. If they price it around 30k, it will flop imo. |

Have a look over at Focus Forums. Lots of info that may help.
Pav Edit: I drive a 2002 Focus Sedan L, auto trans that now has 158K miles. Not all trouble free, especially the last few months, but before that was a good commuter. 33MPG. Good in rain and snow. I still enjoy it. |

Bought a brand NEW 2010, base model w/ manual for UNDER $11K, in late February for my wife.
Averaging 34 mpg. Even stripped, comes with AC, CD, ipod hookup, etc And it ain't a bad little car. (hell, more and more days I run it, instead of the diesel crewcab, if I'm not hauling/towing that day |

At 26k you are in WRX territory which has AWD. I think it's a losing market. Got to price under the WRX/Ralliart market (imo). |

I picked up a 2009 SES (w auto) in December with 33K on it. I did not know if I would like a car because have drove little pickups (rangers & S10) for the last 30 years.
I put 15K on it and I'm averaging around 38 mpg (most of my driving is short highway). I am very happy with the Focus. |
