I have had the same computer since 2003, when I bought it I went all out and bought the best from dell. I was wondering if I am missing anything by not having a newer PC or apple? I do not play games or video editing, just surfing etc.

Considering how easy and 'fun' it can be to build a new PC, why not?

I just built a new one myself and am loving it.  24" monitor, GTX 560ti, 8gig ram, SATA boot drive, 2TB in a raid for data and security, 750W power supply <3

As someone who used to sell computers my first question to a prospective client is: Does you current computer do everything you want?

If the answer is yes, keep it and save your money.

If the answer is no we have to start talking about what you want it to do that it doesn't, currently.

Maybe.  Depends on his current setup.  Hell even a few sticks of RAM or a new OS would really boost whatever it is he wants to do.

This.  I'm no expert compared to a lot of folks on this site, but unless you need/want the PC to do something it isn't doing now, why upgrade?
