At the end of the movie right before Leonides and his followers are cut down he looks at Ephialtes and says "May you live for ever". Was this meant as a curse or did Leonides feel pity for him? I still cant figure out what he was trying to say. When he says this he has pity in his eyes and voice. What do you think?

It was a curse.

You know what Ephialtes means now to this day?

Nightmare/Traitor

From what I heard it akin to being a Benedict Arnold. The way Leonidas says it makes me think that he felt pity for him. He said it gently instead of his usual screaming when he talked.

it meant may you live forever, and never know the glory of a spartan death, which was basically what they lived their entire lives for.

It is that, and like UKJohn said, from what (little) I know.

His curse was for his name to go down in history as black and infamous.

To the Spartans, dying in battle was their greatest honor. To "live forever" would be a horrible shame.
