OK. First of all, I'm not trying to make another "Creep Thread." This thread is strictly for people who have had experiences with things they believe to be ghosts. I have had a few of them in my life. I don't particulcarly like talking about them to people I know, but since this is the internet and I have pretty much complete anonimity, I shall divulge. 1) My current girlfriend's house. The house I am sitting in right now as I type this. She moved in about 8 years ago. Elderly couple lived here before her. Elderly woman passed away first, 4 years later the man did. My GF buys the house. Upon moving in, she is moving things into the attic. She notices an old, small shaving kit. It is old and made of canvas. Come to find out, it is full of WW2 medals. Almost all of them are Nazi medals, with Swatzikas on them. I brought them to have them looked at and the guy said some of them are Hitler Youth medals and belt buckles. Currency, coins and pamphlets from Hitler era. The previous owner was a tank commander for US army during WW2. Why this stuff was in the attic, I have no clue. This was a prefix to say what I experienced the first time I slep here alone. She was on vacation and wanted me to watch after the dog and fish. I had an uneasy feeling sleeping in her bed in the house alone. Just one of those feelings like I was being "watched." Anyway, went to bed. Woke up around 3 am to piss in the master bathroom. After pising, before I even flushed I heard, distinctly, someone walking heavy-footed, across the cieling joists from about 20 feet away. Sounded like a 200-pound man walking in the attic. I have to admit, it scared the piss out of me. It stopped Directly over my head. Now, the bathroom I was in is in the corner of the house, so there is no way a person could physically walk there due to the fact that the roof is only about 6 inches high in that part of the structure. I just hung my head and didn't know what to think. The next night something similar happened. That's when I called my GF and asked her if she had experienced anything like this. She said yes, but it had been awhile since she has and it wa mainly right after she moved in. I slept in the guest room for the remainder of her trip and didn't experience anything else for awhile. Things have happened since then, but I'll save that for later on. With God as my witness, everything I stated here is true. I swear to God everything I said here is true. I'd like to hear your your ghost stories. ETA: Couple months later one night my GF was sleeping. I always stay up later than her because she wakes up at 5 am every morning for work so even on weekends she just can't stay up late. I, on the other hand, stay up till at least 2 or 3 on weekends. Anyway, one Friday night, around 1:00, I was on the computer researching WW2 stuff. I am an afficiendo of all things WW2 and Vietnam War related. I came across a picture. In retrospect, I never should have clicked on it. It was one of the pictures of the Japanese soldiers holding a baby up in the air on the bayonet. Totally repulsive. I only looked at it because I heard of the stories, but wasn't sure if they were true. About a minute after I clicked on it and was staring at the computer in sheer anger, her bedroom door SLAMMED ! I mean it fucking slammed. So hard it knocked the doorstop loose on the door. Scared the shit out of me and her. Took about 30 seconds for her to come out of he room and when she did she was in tears. She know what happened, and so did I. I didn't even bother asking her if she did it. She just wanted to know why. I knew why. Later I did, after I added up the equation of the picture and him being a WW2 Veteran. |
| I live in a house that is over 100 years old....I believe everything that you typed. Make friends with them (out loud) and get some sleep. Most spirits are just worried about their homes. You are an intruder until you declare yourself a friend. I learned the rules before moving in. It has helped a great deal. |

| There is a 1000+ year old castle in Tal Afar, Iraq. Our command decided that we were going to keep a 24 hour presance there because it housed the only remaining police station. We cleared out the place out and the only people left there were Americans and Iraq police. The cops stayed to their side and would come to our side during the night. Anyway, one night I was up with the rest of my fire team. We were bullshitting, but suddenly we heard people speaking, what sounded like arabic in a distressed manner, down in one of the caverns/dugeons. We all looked at each other like "what the fuck?". I mean in a manner like "I was just down there and I didnt see anyone. How could anyone have gotten past us?". My team leader started into us because we were suppose to clear that particular part of the castle. There was nothing down there but old Iraqi shit when we checked it out earlier. So 3 of us went down there with our tac lights on and sure enough there was nothing down there. When we came back up we all sat there and basically questioned our sanity when all of the sudden we heard the scream of a man being what I would expect tortured sounds like. At this point all 4 of us ran down there, rifles up and cleared the whole thing. We searched the fuck out of the several rooms down there, but the was no one there. All 4 of us swore up and down to each other and anyone we saw of what had happened. Everyone else got a laugh out of it, we sure didnt. That same night I had a dream of what I can only describe as a Iraqi looking male staring at me, with a look of someone who thinks you are his only hope of getting away from something dangerous and awful. What is really incredible is that the other 3 had similar dreams that night. I refused to go anywhere near that place after that night, even by direct order. I could care less what anyone else thinks or believes, that shit is real. |

I personally have never had any "ghost" experiences, unless you count dreams. I have had some very vivid dreams in which relatives who have passed on have visited me. And some of these dreams have been so vivid that I wonder if they were "just dreams."
However, several people in my family claim to have had actual ghost experiences. I do believe there is a spiritual component to human existence, and that in some form we do go on after bodily death. And I always have to tag the creepy threads! |

My son's baseball coach runs the local funeral home. He told a story tonight that freaked my wife out. He grew up in the business (different town) and was living at a house across from his families funeral home, and on cemetery property. His wife (girlfriend at the time) came for a visit. She went into the kitchen and felt a cool sensation / breeze go up her arm, and then the feeling of fingers going through her hair and touch her head. She walked out of the kitchen and was white - pale. He simply said, "I take it you've seen the ghost". His wife was there tonight and validated the entire story. He's not a weird dude or nutcase, he's a good guy. He also said, the place he works now, also has ghosts.

As useless as it will be... Now I'm gonna sleep with my AR next to me. I just so happen to be watching "A Haunting in Connecticut" and had to see what this thread had to offer. Dammit, I'm a wimp but I'm prolly gonna be all scared and shit trying to sleep tonight.

I was never really a believer in that shit until i worked for one season as overnight security at a ski resort while i was in college.
Some of the stuff i experienced in the middle of the night walking through the old lodges and hotel almost made me quit on the spot. yup. i believe in ghosts. Im officially crazy. |

(this is transcribed from the x-files thread... a little more fitting here than there)
i was in my DFP (Echo 13, believe it or not. west end of the runway, about a mile or so out) at oh-dark thirty and i heard some footsteps going up to my position. my alpha was out cold (sleeping like the bitch he was) over the grenade sump. we were in black-out conditions (no light AT ALL, even red light), so i pulled out my 5-charlies, aka NVG's. I thought it was just my area supervisor just coming up to check up on me, so i was not too worried. low and behold, i saw a full dressed soldier walking to me... well about my 5 o'clock position, but not one of our uniforms at all. not even a coalition uniform, we had a few of the danes and south koreans with us. in any case, here is this guy walking up to my post, clear as day in my NVGs. the second i got the optic in focus, he trailed off like boiling water, vapor, steam whatever you want to call it. right in front of my fucking eyes! it scared me to death, i still see that fucking few seconds like it happend yesterday. i hit the slap flares, about 4 of 'em i think. i started cracking chem-lights and tossing 'em like a motherfucker. my surefire 6P lit my entire sector up like the surface of a UV bulb. i got quite a bit of NJP from that one, but i bounced back once other kids vouched for me. thank god for the airmen brotherhood. i'd have been toast from leadership if half of my damn flight did not experiance the exact same thing at one point or another. eh well. the haji's tortured and killed a hell of a lot of ruskies back in the day. not a doubt in my mind that dude was one of 'em. -rb |

We live in an old farm house. There is a "playful child" that peeks into the dining room and living room from the hallway.
Late one night my wife got up to get a sip of water in the kitchen when she heard a child call "momma" from the bathroom... She responded by saying "I'll be right there, buddy..." thinking one of our sons required assistance. When she got to the bathroom, there was no one there. Confused she went to their room, and found them all sound asleep. I've seen it just about every night that we've lived here. Several other folks have seen it too. |

I live in a house that is over 100 years old....I believe everything that you typed. Make friends with them (out loud) and get some sleep. Most spirits are just worried about their homes. You are an intruder until you declare yourself a friend. I learned the rules before moving in. It has helped a great deal. I know of what you speak. I have done this almost exatly as you typed. It made things alot easier. Almost immediately. Exact same thing here. I've had a lot of WEIRD things happen and then a lot of creepy things that I was afraid to even go to bed at night, especially when most of it happens as soon as I turn off my TV for the night. I got so fed up that I finally said that this is our house which helped take the creepiness down quite a few notches and lessened the really bad experiences. It's actually a new house but it's on Native American sacred ground along with an old civil war cemetery right behind it. It also has one of the largest underground natural water springs which might contribute to some of the strangeness if any of the theories out there are correct about water and energy. Keep in mind that I started as the biggest skeptic around along with my family and we all changed at some point or another due to these experiences. Some of the weirdest stories are: -When I was in bed when I was 12 or so, I got that extremely weird feeling that someone is watching you and I originally thought it was my mom trying to scare me, but then I felt something right behind me as I lay facing the opposite direction. Then I start hearing the loudest and weirdest breathing I've ever heard in my life right behind me and it went on constantly for at least an hour as I hid under my covers still feeling that presence right behind me. It finally stopped and everything went back to normal except my sleeping patterns...
-Once again when I was around 12 or 13, I was playing a game upstairs when that creepy feeling came right back and it was so heavy out in the hallway that I didn't want to even leave the room I was in. Then I start hearing a constant knocking noise on the wall that started slow and then suddenly picked up and got louder and faster until I finally had to burst out the room and book it out of there. Every once in a while I'd think I heard my mom screaming my name from downstairs and run down there and ask her what she wants and she'd look at me and say she didn't call me. This was more weird than creepy so I never really said it was a ghost until... -A few years later, my mom is upstairs putting away laundry and she starts to walk down the stairs and hears someone whisper "Good job" right in her ear that made her turn pale. She'd also hear the computer chair move back and forth and bangs on the desk so she'd think I was on the computer, but then she checks and there's no one in there. She's also heard talking quite a few times and these things started to make her question whether or not ghosts exist but didn't convince her yet. -We've all seen shadows, but my mom actually saw a little girl standing at her door and then the girl ran down the hallway and that's something my mom kept to herself until I was playing with this device from a friend of mine that gave me a name of a girl and an age and I casually mention it to my mom thinking nothing of it and then she tells me of what she saw so I ask her what age she thought the girl was and she said 7 or 8 which is exactly what I got on that device...Eight. My dad was the biggest skeptic since nothing ever happened to him but he woke up and saw a weird glowing light walk into his room, stand at the foot of the bed and then walk out as my dad acted like he was asleep. -As far as my random noises, I would hear a loud bang on my computer desk in the other room at the exact same time every single night until I started staying in that room later where it then was a loud bang behind me on the TV that's never on. I also hear a knock on my door every night when I go to bed and it's usually pretty faint, but I've also heard taps on my dresser, shelf, sounds of rustling in my closet, etc. I also hear a loud bang right above me in the attic every time I just walk into the bathroom but it's not tied to any pipe or anything so my mom couldn't help figure that out. I also hear a lot of conversations going on downstairs when I'm upstairs and hear bangs and walking downstairs and I always end up thinking someone came home early. We all also hear walking and then bangs upstairs when we're all in the family room and it literally sounds like walking and even sounds like they're coming downstairs sometimes. -Back to that device, we actually got my uncle's name, Jim, called out on there as soon as my mom called my aunt who was his wife who my mom didn't call her that often before and it was literally as soon as they started talking. This was the aunt my mom was told to talk to and help out after my grandma died who was her twin. We chalked it up as another weird experience with the thing, but then we went to that aunt's house for Christmas and I brought it out and said nothing to my aunt but everyone else know. The first thing we got was "James" which was his actual name (he went by Jim though) and then it said "bright, smile" which was kind of comforting in a way. We've had A LOT of weird things from that thing including weird words said together like, "neck, hang, blood" or "doctor, illness, sick". The last one came up many times with different words meaning the same thing, but the weirdest is when I left it on and went upstairs and it decided to talk trash about me. It said "Military. Attempt. Fail" which is funny since I got sick in training, got discharged, got even worse when I got home and I'm still dealing with the problems. But that was extremely weird to have those words come together. My friend even had it say "May. Join. Navy" when he was with his family which is actually when he enlisted in the Navy finally. We've had a lot of weird things match up to conversations and events which is funny since we all thought it was a joke program. Either it's legit or there are enough coincidences to convince me to go to Vegas and beat the odds again, lol. -After I tried to talk to "it", a lot of the really creepy things stopped. Many things I can't remember anymore thanks to all these painkillers and medications which make me forgetful. The latest thing that keeps happening is to my mom where she feels her hair get pulled in the shower quite often. It's hard enough to where it really hurts so it can't be water pouring off of her hair or anything. She keeps trying to figure it out, but I'd use a different bathroom if I were her. There's still a lot of sounds but it doesn't seem quite as menacing to me. The only thing that still scares me to the point of making me break my constipation record is the shadows I see at times. Those things still give me the creeps but they don't happen too often luckily. There's many, many more that I can't think of right now that has happened to each and every one of us in the house. Some stories could be explained logically but a lot of our experiences can't possibly be explained to us. I was the first to change from skeptic to open to the paranormal whether it's ghosts or not. Then my mom followed and my dad finally came around recently after we finally shared all of our stories and now he's not afraid of telling people that our house is haunted while my mom and I still don't mention it. I thought I got away from this place when I joined the Air Force but that backfired...lol. It's kind of cool that the Ghost Hunters casting director called me for an interview though. They were looking for people for their new show so he asked me a bunch of questions and all was going well until we finally came to the health section where he realized I was a liability basically so the long interview abruptly ended right after that question unfortunately. Sorry for the novel but each paragraph is a different story or subject. |

I've had a couple small experiences. My best friend on the other hand says he's seen things as long as he can remember. His dad was an instructor at the Pathfinder School at Ft Benning when he was a little kid (early 80's) , they lived off post and he said every night when he would go to bed he would sit down on the bed , take off his socks and drop them in the floor. Nearly every night like clockwork , he said after about 10 minutes his socks would get tossed back up on the bed. He said after he got older he assumed it was just the house but he has had experiences everywhere he's lived. We had an apartment one time that had weird shit going on. Darts would come out of the dartboard and fly across the kitchen , something would tug on your shirt or coat. it never felt like anything sinister , just weird. |

I have had more then a few creepy things happen to me. and one that was trully...other but involved a family member and i was young.
I dont tell the stories do to the "creep thread" trolls and just not feeling the need to share in detail or prove it to anyone. but i do love these threads |

Quoted: The only difference in "Believers" and "Non-Beleivers" are people being in the right place at the right time... or vice-versa. Or people finding a differing explanation the the event or events that happened. I had an experience but I found what I find to be the most probable and logical explanation. There were a few more things but I add it up to coincidence. The first "event" made me get a bit of confirmation bias and cased me to want to tie in others things. Other people had similar experiences in the same house / room. So its a bit creepy to think about now. Still it doesn't bother me. Every time I go to my bros house I open the door to "the room" and tell the "ghost" that my brother thinks its a pussy and doesn't have the balls to choke him out in the shower. I do that mainly because I am the big brother and I still need to relive the days of being the big bad older bro. Well that and NOTHING is going to happen over me taunting "it". What is funny is that room is the master bathroom and he and his wife leave it vacant. LOL. They wont even sleep in it.

What was this "Device" you were using? |

There's an old tv show from about 1995 called "Castle Ghosts of ______" (England, Scotland, etc), in the Ireland episode they show this tacky recreation of what they call an "elemental" (I think it was), looked rather like a rotting sheep head with dreadlocks. I saw one of those 10 years before the show came out, it was about 3' tall (don't know how tall the one on the show was supposed to be) - it scared the hell out of me then and seeing it on TV brought the whole memory back.
ETA - I don't really believe it was a ghost, a Christian would probably call it a demon or devil or something, but I don't know what it was |

I could care less what anyone else thinks or believes, that shit is real. holy crap, are you talking about the Zigguraut? the pyramid thing near Nasariyah? i was based out of FOB Tallil (southern iraq) and stoped by a few times at that place, supposedly the birthplace of Abraham or someone like that. gave me the creeps. -rb No, Tal Afar is north of there. Its the midway point between the Syrian border and Mosul....as every terrorist wannabee and their mother stopped by for the night(or 20). That town was the "Hotel California" for a while. Mother fuckers checked in all the time, but we checked them out. |

Where / how did you see it? Well, this should convince anyone who doesn't already suspect it that I'm a total nutjob - I was 17 or so, sober, didn't do drugs, went fishing at Navajo reservoir, near Durango. One day when I finally realized the catfish weren't biting I kind of wandered along the shore for a while. I happened upon a totally unremarkable scraggly old tree of some kind - This is a semi-arid climate, so scraggly describes much of the vegetation of the area. Wedged in the branches of this scrub brush was a staff - about five and a half feet long with a detailed eagle head carving on the top with some spiraling design going down it. I'd read enough fantasy books to not think it odd to find a carved staff just laying around. This was public land outside the reservation and no one had been in sight all day, so I brought it home. Within a week of finding it (stayed a couple more nights in Pagosa, then came home), the noises started. No big deal, I was a big boy and not afraid of wind or the dark. I had the staff propped in the corner of my room by the window. Surely the scratching sound was just the wind scraping the branches against the screen. Odd though, that the sounds were coming from the north edge of the window and the bush was to the south. Well, still no worries, my room was warded and the sounds were outside. Then the dreams started. Normally I don't remember dreams, but these were consistent and happening almost every night. Still, I didn't connect them with the staff. I mean, why should I? Then one night I awoke with a start - about a week into this my wards apparently collapsed. Sitting, or maybe crouching, at the edge of my bed was... something. Malevolence oozed from this thing, it had a face like a semi-rotted sheep skull freshly exhumed. Almost paralyzed with fear, I managed to reach my knife, which I kept on my headboard. This knife was kind of like an athame but more of a weapon than a ceremonial tool. Anyway, as soon as I touched it, my fear reduced a bit. A voice came to me at that point do you really think that will help? the thing said to me. "It can't hurt" I thought, the thing kind of laughed at me and then was gone. The next morning I destroyed the staff. No more dreams, no more noises, no more bringing things home that didn't belong to me. |

On a few occasions. I think I may have seen one when I was a child, but it was such a time ago and you can't trust your imagination at that age. Never really seen anything visible since, but I've heard heavy, four-legged movement in a low attic which sat three floors above a house with no access, and occasionally, in the same place, something would generate a load of static noise through electrical equipment; y'know, like in the films where it works up to a high enough pitch to hurt your ears then stops, or, occasionally, it was just a consistent electrical sound.
At the house in question, which is an old place in Yorkshire, my friends brother once woke to see a black shape standing over the bed in the guest room. He doesn't believe in ghosts and felt it wasn't real. There is a stone, large standing-stone in a field right next to the place which looks a lot like a gravestone; once my friend saw the figure of an old woman pass across the garden, through the shed and disappear into it. England has quite a bit of it and most of the historic tourists sites you visit will have some presence. The Tower of London is apparently quite actively haunted; even the ghost of a bear has been seen, and I believe the place once had it's own zoo hundreds of years ago. Some very brutal torture and death took place there. I live near Stonehenge these days. The local woods here are reputed to be haunted due to some fairly brutal executions that took place there, hundreds of years ago. Beautiful place, but the trees are so thick in places it has limited natural daylight. Thought I saw something glowing a few hundred yards away in there once, but it was probably my imagination. I have been seriously lost in there a few times, so I suppose if anyone does haunt it, they don't make themselves too obvious. Never been anywhere it was really in your face as per some of these posts, it was pretty occasional, but I'm quite glad of that! |
| Every time I've stayed at the Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs there's been weird stuff happen. One particular spot in the hall made several people dizzy. Saw a women outside a 3rd floor window (no balcony or fire escape). Things like that. Never saw the alleged piano player or the little girl, though |

Oh fuck that noise. I would be outta there! |

What was this "Device" you were using? Oddly enough, it's an app that uses all the sensors on phones. It's called Ghost Radar which I looked up to get a consensus on it. It seems to have people on both sides of the fence saying it works and others say it's entertainment, but there's too many things to still be called coincidental. There was a thread on it with a lot of weird stories to go with it as well. I'd normally think it'd just be for entertainment to spook people out but there's time where we'd get NOTHING for hours and hours on end but then it can come up with the most specific and relevant words out there like I said above. My friend also thought it was BS until he used and now he won't turn it on anymore. Basically, if it was just these words alone I'd think nothing of it even though saying my uncle's name when talking to my aunt or mentioning the "military. attempt. fail" right after I got home from the Air Force (lost a nice intelligence job :( ) and happened as soon as I left the room is just too weird to randomly happen at the perfect time like that along with at least 20 other nights with good experiences with the thing. It sounds crazy to even think it could work, but the shit we got on numerous occasions that relate to us in some way are just too weird. Sometimes the skeptic in me comes out and says it's crazy, but then it comes back with even more words to fit the topic. I think it was the Ghost Adventures guys that even tried it out once. The weirdest thing is when we had noises going on around us that matched up with when a word was said and then a friend brought a recorder over with him which got us some weird sounds that we couldn't make out. I wish I could remember some of the other stuff it's said which were funny but also insulting to me at times...lol. Good old memory loss from chronic painkiller use isn't helping me out right now. You can try it for yourself on android or the app store. There's a classic version that's free that we used for a while and then there's a $0.99 pro version with a text log so it records all of it. I'm only slightly crazy and using this app sounds even crazier, but my whole extended family has seen and used it and left a lot of them puzzled... Edit: As I was reading this thread, there a huge bang in my bedroom right on cue...

There are no ghosts, you are being deceived. I believe their are angels or demons, not ghosts. My old man said the same and claimed that the bible specifically says that spirits may not return to Earth. Said anything of the like was Satan fucking with you and that was also covered in the bible. Me? I've seen as many demons as I have ghosts. I remain skeptical about both. |
I just so happen to be watching "A Haunting in Connecticut" and had to see what this thread had to offer. Dammit, I'm a wimp but I'm prolly gonna be all scared and shit trying to sleep tonight.
