Ok.........I'm getting drunk on Royal Canadian and have to brag about my eye test this week.

I was 20-10 baby!!

About the only thing that still works on old RDak is my old eyes.!!

Now that I am drunk..........I probably am at about 20-50 though.

My clear range of vision is about 2 inches or so, starting 3 inches from my eyes.
As far as I'm concerned, you can blow it out your ass. Jerk

PRK!!

My wife got it and she is back to 20-20.

She always had very clear vision when we were young but that surgery really did work for her.

I'm being serious now.

Just the other day a hawk that comes into my backyard started his dive and I pointed out a mouse in the other field...........he immediately changed direction and flew away with that mouse I directed him to.

I've always asked the military guys why in the heck they need those stupid scopes.

ETA:  After another couple ounces of Royal Canadian........I estimate my vision is about 20-75 now.

ETA:  Nope.........just read the bottom of the golf channel running info at the bottom of the screen at 25 feet away.

Give an old guy a break......it's the only GOD DA** thing that still works properly.

Even with corrective lenses, I have enormous amounts of trouble with irons. Targets at any distance over 15 or so yards are completely obscured

On a serious note.........my father.....who had good eyes, is 86 now and can't pass the Sec. of State eye exam.

I had to take him to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago to see what they can do to let him drive again.

They got him to the bare minimum but..............now you see what I mean when a guy gets old.

ETA:  He was a WWII rifleman who had VERY good vision.......but he got older.

That's why I went in for an eye exam this week.

Getting old sucks, but it still beats the alternative. I had LASEK* a few years ago and got to experience 20/40 on my way to about 20/15.  20/40 is the legal minimum.  It is a little scary that people can legally drive with 20/40 vision.  That being said, someone losing their driving license would be tough to deal with.  It's one thing if someone say gets a DUI, but when it is of no fault of your own...    For the record, my grandparents died from a traffic accident when they were 80.  My grandfather didn't see the pickup truck...  My Dad is 82...

*LASEK is a PRK variant.  There is no flap / cutting of the cornea, thus no complications from that.  It is not LASIK.

Not really, I'm 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other and the biggest difference is being able to read license plates.  If someone is 20/40 it's not like they can't see cars or people, it's just more difficult to read signs and other more detailed things.

FWIW, in Michigan you have to have 20-60 to pass the eye test.

My dad, who had RAZOR vision, couldn't pass that at 86 years old.

ETA:  I take that back, it's 20-40 in the Sec. of State's office.........but 20-60 if the eye doctor tests you.
