So I have a hat that I wear pretty much any time I'm gonna be outside...and I tend to seat in it ALOT. I like the hat and it's holding up well...it just smells.
So how do you guys get the smell out of your hats? I used to throw it in the dishwasher...but we took our dishwasher out. There has to be some super secret anti hat smell stuff that I'm overlooking. Thanks |

I just get a big bowl and put it in the sink and wash it by hand alternating warm soapy water and cool rinse water repeat 4x times or until the rinse is fairly clean...then let air dry.
Ive done that because every hat I put through a wash machine somehow just doesnt fit or feel right afterwards. |

dip it in diesel... Works for me. Will gasoline work...it's all I have right now. And is it gonna be an issue to light a cigarette? Quoted:
If it's a canvas ball cap, I just throw it in the washing machine by itself. This seems to be the most popular answer...night give it a go. Quoted:

They feel stiffer and smaller than before. |

When my hats get soiled & stinky I fill a bucket with some really hot water and some Woolite. Then I dip the hat in the mixture and thoroughly soak them. Some scrubbing with a stiff brush may be required if they are extra dirty. Then I rinse them off really well with cold water and then put them out in the sun to dry. This way the bills aren't ruined and they aren't shrunk down to the size of a walnut. Usually cleans them up pretty good. |

Rinse well, soak in fresh rinse water for a few minutes, then let drip dry in the shape you want it. |

Give him a break he's an aggie after all. |
| Let it soak in some hot soapy water for a while, rinse it off in the shower until the water running off it goes clear. Then hang it up and let it air dry, spray with febreeze and wear it. If it gets really nasty it's time to get a new one. I've been wearing the same flex-fit hat for at least 2 years and washing it like this about once a month. Sometimes more often in the summer when I sweat more, less often in the winter. |

Quoted: I went with the washing machine method...a little oxy-clean in the sweat band...let it set for about 15 minutes...delicate cycle...and I just couldn't help myself after it's bath it got nuked in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Shes hanging outside to dry right now... http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/tduke3853/1303769955.jpg Will report on fit and form later. So....the dish washer method worked good for you then? |
