Having read your OP I have only one thing to say: the only one who can make this call is your family. If it's the dog's time, it's his time. Though you mentioned he hasn't attacked anyone yet, if I thought he had the desire/propensity to do so I'd put him down with the quickness. Either way, sorry about the crappy situation boss. |

Since you say he is safe with your family it sounds like he needs some socializing. This is a common problem. I would say keep the dog and work with the training. Shock collars work miracles IF applied properly. You can get some doggy hair trimmers and shave him down a notch. Cheap collars don't work worth a shit anyway. Tri Tronics is the best.
All dogs have their personality problems and need refinement, very few dogs need to be put down. If you don't have the time to train the dog you shouldn't have him. If he can't shape up, it's sleepy time. I would never have a dog that is randomly aggressive. Chows are a rotten breed of dog, I've never met one I've liked. If he is half Chow he might have a shitty temperament built right in. I have and always had Black Labs just so you know where I'm coming from. |
