With MMA the mainstream now, is Boxing a dead or Sport that TV is ignoring? Other than HBO, which showed a GREAT fight last weekend it just seems to be dead.
Are we done with the greats? Holyfield, Tyson, Forman, ect.....?  I Enjoy MMA somewhat , but long for the days of a 12 round slugfest!!!!

Boxing died when Tyson converted to Islam...and cannibalism.

I still keep up with it somewhat. Some fights are entertaining while others not so much.

Just my opinion....
Boxing is too boring compared to MMA.
I'm sure boxing will be around forever though - seems to have plenty of fans ?!?!

I used to watch it all the time. It seems like now we don't have the "Big Name" heavy weights anymore, welter, middle weights have had some big fights....just doesn't seem to be like it was.

Mayweather fan here, boxing is defiantly on the downside especially as far as amateur leagues go. But it will always exist.

PPV fucked boxing.

It's a regular, normal sport. Like baseball, football, basketball, hockey, etc.

You wouldn't see the world series, superbowl, the NBA finals or Stanley Cup playoffs on PPV.

To me the fights are over too quickly. I agree it's fun to watch, but when you watch these guy's dig down deep to go 12 rounds, they can't hardly lift the gloves
....fight by heart alone...MMA can't compare!!!!

I'd pay to watch a good fight, then spend the money on a huge MMA fight just to have it over in the 1st round with a tapout
Although I have paid to watch a boxing fight to have it over in the 1st or 2nd.....that pissed me off too

The big MMA fights are PPV.  There are a few good ones on Spike, same with boxing, HBO sports showed alot of good, big named fights

Exactly.  When you prevent casual fans and kids from watching a sport you don't have enough people that will later become paying fans.  They made money in the short-term by screwing the sport long-term.z

All the boxing fans are getting older. The younger generation is watching UFC.

I prefer boxing over UFC.

Your not watching hard enough.  I watch at least three cards per month.  Boxing has has problems but so does MMA, Baseball, and football.

I would probably watch boxing on tv if i could figure out which of the six world champions

in each weight class was the true champ.

It's no coincidence that MMA is growing in popularity, right along with the growing acceptance of gay-rights.

Same followers.

I stopped watching after the last Gatti v. Ward bout. Fucking epic matches between those two. I have been meaning to catch a saturday night bout here recently.

That's true. I'm tired of all these alphabet soup organizations proclaiming someone the champ.

Things change. The days of watching two good boxers go toe to toe are long gone.
