Does shooting a pistol break your wrists and arms also?

I've seen something similar years ago marketed toward the law enforcement profession.  I suppose the idea is for an officer to carry it with him on traffic stops.  I've never known anyone who owned one, for many good reasons, mainly because cops don't walk around carrying clipboards.

I guess the idea never sold many units, so they shifted to a new target (no pun intended) market.

Wut?  I don't know if would break bones, but it certainly wouldn't feel good to hold one while it got shot out of your hands.  Kind of like how getting shot while wearing body armor isn't pleasant.

There are some different forces involved in shooting a gun and being on the other end of the bullet impact.

Never heard of blunt force trauma, huh?  How about BFD (back face deflection)?

BFD is a requirement in the NIJ 0101.06 spec for body armor.  Please read it.

While the clipboard clearly isn't body armor, the spec demonstrates the importance of BFD.

Oh, btw - how does a pizza cutter work?  Force over area, and all that....

The energy is the same.
The impulse is different.

Which hurts your hand more - throwing a baseball, or catching it bare-handed?

Whereas, a glove both distributes the force over a greater area, and it decreases the impulse by lengthening the amount of time the energy is transferred.

The clipboard probably would not do any permanent damage to your hands if you were to hold it while someone else shot it.  I wouldn't recommend an empirical test, though.

Cops hold it up when aporoaching people on traffic stops. The theory was that you have a ticket book on a clipboard in your hand already, the clipboard might as well be bulletproof.
Unfortunately the clipboards are retard heavy and the modern thought in gunfighting is to return fire, not try to hide behind a tiny ass clipboard.

I actually met a state trooper once that had the small 8x5 inch sized version for ticketbooks that was made out of that lexan bulletproof plastic. It was seethrough but it was about two iches wide and weighed 3 pounds. It even had a 9mm lodged in the bottom corner where he had tried it out.

did you see the back of the clipboard?  there was almost zero BFS (thats, back face signature, btw).  the last company i worked for made speech holder boxes used by lots of politicians and govt officials.  there was a Level II version offered...

Back of clipboard BFD (i.e. static BFD) does not equal 1.) Dynamic BFD or 2.) BFD recorded on clay.

Just how far from the politicians and gov't officials skin was the speech holder box?  I assume it wasn't in direct contact with their ribs?

They use to make kevlar covers for clip boards and cite holders.

Have not seen one in years. We always trained to toss the bad guy our clip boards then shoot him.
