Oakley is pissing me off.  They used to make nice fitting models with a wide variety of lens tints, but the majority of what they make anymore are futuristic, modern crap.  I was willing to try their Half Jackets, but they fit me almost like bifocals.  If I look up, they work great.  If I look straight, they cover about 75% of the view.  Their lens selection is crap too.  Even for the M-Frames, you cannot get less than 10% light transmission.

I tried Wiley-Xs, but they are a bit too big for my face.  What other quality glasses are out there before I go search for a pair of old Oakley Fives?

This. I've had a pair of Costas for about 6 years and they're great. Mine are beat up and scratched so I'm going to replace them in a week or two, but sunglasses usually last me about a year before they're done. These Costas have lasted 6 and are hands down the best pair of sunglasses I've ever had. They're pricey but definitely worth it.

Natives.

Do it.

ETA:  I'm on my second pair of Dash XPs (eXtended Protection, which means the lenses cover slightly more area).  Native's excellent warranty apparently doesn't cover losing them at the Pull-a-Part.

I was always an Oakley kid, however I recently went with Ray Ban Techs.  If you ask me Ray Bans aren't worth the $ but I still like em.  I also like Revos and Bolles.

I wish the lenses on the RBs was a little darker but they still work great, very clear.

Do you have a high nose bridge? Might try a Flak XLJ. Oh, and Ebay for lenses.

you must have a big freakin' face

half jackets work great for me, full sized M frames are a bit big (fit fine normally but, with a helmet on- when I'd wear them usually - they get pressed down into my cheeks... I need to get the shorter version)

Maui Jim's are very nice but, not my style... I'd say go to a good glasses place and try a bunch of different kinds on to see what fits

I have the flak jacket XLJ on now and really like them. They are lighter and more comfortable than the previous half jackets.

My set of Bolle are worn the hell out after five years. I am getting new ones here soon. I figured I would try Oakley since I have never had a set. Need to find out what all the hype is about. I need prescription lenses which complicates things a bit.

I go with as cheap as possible.

Somehow I am very hard on glasses. They only last me a few months at most.

Maui Jim only. Not only do I love the glasses, but the company is great to deal with as well. Seems I find that less and less as the years go by.

Costa del mar

Best sunglasses i have ever put on if you spend the money and get the glass 580 lenses you will thank be in heaven. they hast forever and the lenses are tough as nails if you look on ebay you can find what you want.

Here are the ones i have http://www.costadelmar.com/store/BVModules/ProductTemplates/Costa%20-%20Product%20Layout/Product.aspx?productid=BR. It looks like they have changed the 580 lenses but if you look on ebay you can find the blue and green they have been the best colors i have tried.

I would definitely go somewhere and try a couple different pairs but the brines are hard to beat.

I have had two pair of Costa Hammerheads (with blue mirror) over the last 12 years. They have served me well for driving, fishing, yard work, shooting...pretty much anything most normal people do. Not that I'm normal...

I like my M frame, and I also have a Flak Jacket(bought them first and liked them, got the m-frames for the motorcycle and work where ANSI-rated wrap around lens is needed) which isn't too bad. And actually the black iridium polarized is 9%, 10% is darkest without polarized - but who the hell makes anything darker than that anyway? I haven't seen anything. That's why I went with Oakley in the first place, that was the darkest lens I could find short of mylar glasses designed for looking at the sun
