Ya, I saw the ad for this this AM. So, here's my curmudgeonly, sceptics' view of the Mayan's (which is really the original basis for this) prediction- So, you've created maybe the most accurate calendar ever in the shape of a wheel which predicts the end of the world in 2012 but it never occurred to you to use that wheel to move things and the Spaniards took over your entire civilization with like 300 guys? Really?

| I still stand by my original opinion on this. The reason they stopped in 2012 is because they were fucking tired of carving shit into stone. That is some work. Probably the Mayan Stone Carving and Pulling Baseless Predictions From Our Ass Union started bitching about the unrealistic expectations, lack of safety equipment and demanded a prevailing wage. |

Quoted: That was the Aztecs. The Mayans were already gone by the time the Spaniards got there. Ya, I saw the ad for this this AM. 2012 is nothing. Repeat after me. THE MAYAN CALENDAR DOES NOT END ON DEC 21 2012. Dec 21 is simply the end of what the Mayans called a Baktun, which equals about 394 years according to Wikipedia. Dec 22 2012, a new Mayan Baktun will start.

Now we just need to worry about Camping's prediction of the Rapture in May 2011 and Judgement Day in October 2011. |
