Is actually pretty sweet!

My wife got a new phone yesterday on Sprint (HTC Arrive) and I'm very impressed.  I've got an iPhone and have used plenty of Android phones in my work so it's not like I'm a windows flunky (besides I HATED mobile 6.1)

The UI is clean and fast with accelerated animations, the layout is original and beats the pants off of Android as far as useability and cleanliness.  I checked out the app store and while there aren't as many apps yet (it's been out for 6 months only) most of the biggies are there.

It's kind of funny seeing MS as the underdog, and if I were Apple and Google I'd be watching my back

Be sure to let us know how it's going after a few months.

I have loved phones initially, then hated them after a month.

Hopefully it turns out to be a good platform.

It is a very capable platform.  Nothing like previous Windows phone OS versions which is a good thing.  Lets hope Balmer does not screw it up like he has so many other things.

This is probably the death sentence for them.  They have lost mindshare in the mobile space and will have a very tough time getting it back.  They will pour billions going after it though.

Apple has done amazingly well, but if you think about it, it has been a 12 year journey to get to this point.  Microsoft made a lot of poor moves along the way to help Apple.

Goggle's Android is doing quite well too, but I fear they have some bumps ahead.  The honeycomb mess is not pretty.  They are only offering it to a few vendors initially, even though everyone and their cousin demoed a tablet at CES.  Some vendors put tablets out too early with Android 2.2 and are losing mindshare from the early adopters.  Then there is the patent and copyright mess.  It seems as though Google is putting that burden on the hardware vendors.  We'll see how that plays out it the courts from the next 5+ years, but this could be to Microsofts benefit in the long term.
