Well, I've got a Palm IIIc, but the concept is somewhat similar. Here's what I've got:
1-2Convert, converts all sorts of units into others, like fps into fahrenheit and back into liquid ounces ;)
I deleted the built in calculator, and replaced it with one made by the same guy who wrote the conversion program (www.leloproductions.com)
Acrobat Reader for PalmOS (and a converter for it on the desktop PC), current file: "From a Buick 8", by Stephen King ... check Amazon for the publishing date...September 2002 :)
CityTime, a graphical world-time clock, displays the time in 100 places on a map (by default, you can add your own, and delete unwanted ones)
A Collins dictionary English-German/German-English
iSilo, html reader for PDAs (currently displaying a list of German WW2 manufacturer's codes and dates for gun shows)
JackFlash/JackSprat, allows you to access and alter the flash memory you're not supposed to alter or access (more memory for you)
Klondike, a solitaire game like the one in Windows
WordSmith, to create, read and edit RTF and DOC files, current file: "The Sum of all Fears", Tom Clancy
Besides those, I've left a few standard apps on it that came with PalmOS 4.1: Address Book, Clock. DateBook, Mail, Memo Pad, NotePad
Anyway, I bought my first Palmas ebook reader, but it sneaked it's way into everyday life. Hope that gives you some clues what to do with the Compaq ;)
