I bought a surround sound system a couple weeks ago.  I hooked everything up (PS3 and HDDVR going through a HDMI splitter), out from splitter to in on surround sound amp, and out from amp to TV.  It worked great for a few days, then the TV died (won't even power on).  Now the TV is a few years old, so it could have been coincidence...but I just bought a new TV and I'm hesitant to plug the surround back in.

So, my question...is it possible for enough power to go through an HDMI cable to fry a television, or was it just coincidence?[/indent]

An hdmi signal can not fry your tv... It's a digital signal.

That's what I thought, but it just seemed odd that it went out a couple days after I hooked it up.  Thanks.
