I just loaded Rouge Spear onto my computer. I got the Platinum Pack. the problem is when I try to play it the mouse arrow and when moving. the mouse moves really slow. so then I loaded Mission pack: urban operations when it goes to load the mission the game just shuts down. Did I get a pos? my computer has plenty of room to handle it.

I hope some one who knows more about this than me will answer-

Did you download the update packs from the manufacturer's website?
Does your computer have enough RAM and a fast enough processor to run RB6?
Do you have the latest version of Direct X?
Are your videocard drivers updated and is your card up to running this game?

I played this quite a bit before I finally figured I had to uninstall it to get any work done.  A little buggy (at least on my machine), but this is the coolest shooting game around in my opinion.

What's running in the background of computer-did you shut off your antivirus stuff and other crap that's running all the time?

It sounds as if your computer isn't up to speed. I have played my SWAT3 game on my computer and it is painfully slow compared to some of the newer machines I have tried it on. My Rainbow 6 seems to do the same. You should check the system requirements to what your computer is working with.

Did you try to do the whole uninstall and reinstall process? Sometimes that will help.

yeah I tried that guess I will again

Did you download and install the patches?

It really is a good game if you get it working. You learn to cut the pie very quickly-often you can lose a man with one shot from an enemy. I love it, but it's worse than ar15.com for time sucking.

What are the patches for? does it matter if I am running windows xp as opposed to 2000

Patches have the latest bug fixes for games, that are often released with bugs. I would think since you bought the game in one of those packs you would have the latest version, but maybe not. I don't think XP v. 2000 makes a difference, but I am out of my depth here. I only ran RB6 on 98/me since I heard that 2000 (which is what I have on the computers at work) does not run games as well. Besides which, I ain't dumb enought to install RB6 at work since I would get no work done.

Good luck

Thanks for both your help gonna bug tech support and see if I can find out something. On the redstorm forums page for Rouge spear someone is having the same problem as me and also using XP so I may find out something there. thanks for the link

If you can't get it going, consider getting Ghost Recon. It is very very similar & it's got a newer program that should run flawlessly with XP, but it's military Spec Ops instead of hostage rescue stuff-plus it's new so it's more $$$$.

Ahh... screw it... get Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.  Runs fine in XP.

:)

Is this like a secret language, or room. I don't even know what is going on here.

Argh Allied Assault is the nastiest buggiest POS! Grrrrrr! It runs horribly on my computer with ME & I sure ain't putting XP on so Microsoft can bugger around with my defaults and programs...

Sorry 'bout that, but I do feel better now.

RB6 isn't the same kind of game as Allied Assault. AA is a hoot, but definitely more beer and pretzels compared to RB6.

you're running ME?  THAT is your problem.  XP is a much better platform.   This is my PROFESSIONAL opinion as a technician.

If you think MS can mess with your stuff in XP, I three words:  Third Party Firewall

;)

No I meant it does stuff like screw around with Quicktime, y'know make Windows Media Player the default etc. I'm not surprised it's more stable since I've heard it's more WIN2000/NT like-but I'll be damned if I'll buy YET ANOTHER Win operating system GRRRRRRRRRR!

If only I was smart enough to learn Linux (and if all the cool games came in Linux)

Sparky,

As suggested definitely download and install the latest patch.

Determine which Video card is in your computer and install the latest drivers for it (check the manufacturers websiste for files and instructions)

Check the readme file that came with the game for any known issues with your particular video card.

RB6 and Ghost recon are both pretty picky about hardware, but they're a lot of fun when working properly.

For the record, Medal of Honor, Allied assault is the best damn computer game ever put out, bar none.  Just had to get my .02 in.

I run it just fine without the patches.

BUT R6, and Ghost Recom take lots of memory. Realistically much more than the minimum requirements.

Go into "options" and turn down background music and as many graphics options as you can sacrifice. If that improves things, it is definitely a memory problem. And it usually is.

Go get Half-life and download Day of Defeat mod. Best WWII game out !!!

Im still waiting for Hidden & Dangerous 2. I get bored quickly with "Rambo" shooters. OFP and Ghost Recon get more play then MOH:AA, RTCW, and other similiar FPS-including the highly overrated Half-life. Operation Flashpoint alone is more enjoyable then any of those click fests. Just my tastes i suppose. played to many FPS games on the console.

Rouge Spear is fun in deathmatch. Always enjoyed sitting far out into a corner with the Draganov and pick off the pesky MP5 users. [sniper]

Can you set up a dual boot with XP so that you have a choice of booting with XP or 98?

If its like my copy of GR you should try setting it to 16 bit mode for the moniter/system, not ingame option.

i'm running rogue spear and rogue spear urban ops on a gateway 500x with pentium4 and XP, most of the time, i have no problems, but if you play the game for more than 40 minutes, the movement gets jerky and starts slowing down, also occasionally, the audio gets this annoying, loud "feedback" type noise that won't go away, so i just turn the volume off for a while.
