| I remember from class a concept where a squatter on a piece of property could take ownership if they pay taxes or utilities for a period of time. Is this true? It has been a while since school. Also, how long does the squatter have to maintain the property? |

It's adverse possession accompanied by actual, hostile, open and notorious, exclusive, and continuous use for 10 years in Missouri. Successful squatters apply for a quiet title.
