I got a Friend over there in Japan and did chat with him today about the quake and other things. SO by chance I mentioned my BoB. He was confused and was thinking I am refering to...the battle of Britain.
He has nothing prepared. Food for 6 days and only a one dollar flashlight. I am sending him a backpack with some stuff ( Surefire LED with batteries etc ) What else should I put in the backpack? I know I cant add a 1911 or Makarov as that would be illegal in Japan. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: A good knife, water purification tablets, a pellet pistol for shooting rats and wild dogs and some beef jurky. Probably not send the knife. Even carrying a pocket knife in Japan is verboten. you're correct on the knife. very bad juju in Japan. They prefer Tantos and Shurikens... |

All medical equipment will require him to obtain an import license. All medical supplies will require a license if you send more than a 2 month supply (as determined by JP customs). He will have to pay D&T on any dutiable items. This is going to be a lot more of a hassle for both of you than you thought. For example, if you send without the proper documentation the shipment will be halted @ entry and returned to you (if you pay the freight charges). Or it will be seized and destroyed. All of this is based on if he can even get the shipment. |

I find it difficult to believe that mail could be recieved easily for them when food is being a problem. Unless he's not in a hard hit spot. He is in Totsuka near Yokohama, so almost no damage there ( except for the 1/2" crack on his floor ) I want to get him one for future troubles as I am sure sooner or later his area will get the shaft as well..... |
