Because the NRA isn't currently working on the Stand Your Ground Law, the Enhanced State Pre-emption with Penalties law, the Emergency Powers / no confiscation law, and didn't spend last year helping us get the Shal Issue law past. The NRA is obviously sitting around and laughing while they throw piles of our money in the air. /sarcasm. |

It took five years to get shall issue passed. Jumping to no permit at all in two months is asking a bit much. The state simply isn't ready for it yet. There were close to a dozen gun bills introduced this year, maybe three of them are still alive. The biggest one we need right now is a strengthened local pre-emption law. Dozens of counties and cities are trying to impose local restrictions on where you can carry (mostly no on any city or county property with one county saying that means county roads as well).
The permit law we passed last year is one of the best in the country. Applications have skyrocketed. It's now recognized by 20 other states, with more to come. The sheriffs are not happy about it and some of the dems that voted for it are also having second thoughts. Unlimited carry is simply not in the cards this year. And Class III is a looooooonnnnnnnggggg ways down the road. |

Sweet. I'm actually trying to move to somewhere in Iowa in the next year or so to be closer to family, so this would be pretty cool. Now if they could just get a Castle doctorine and class 3, it'd be just about perfect. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Iowa has Castle Doctrine (which covers defense in the home). What we lack is Stand Your Ground (which covers everywhere you are legally allowed to be). |

Quoted: Unpossible- everyone here spouts how the NRA is the end all and be all charging to the forefront of every pro-gun piece of legislation (or at least desperately trying to ride the coattails of others successes) See above. Put down the crack pipe. Arfcom is the NRA Bashing headquarters. |

Quoted: Quoted: It must be Thursday, time to bash the NRA again. Carry on... ![]() Benefactor Member here.....ask them if they are supporting the bill and try to pull your head out of the NRA's ass. Carry on! What makes you feel that the NRA has to support every state and city gun bill that comes up? You realize that they're more interested in some areas than others? Try to pull you head of your local governments ass long enough to realize the NRA is a NATIONAL organization who's main fight is in Washington DC.

My god, are you even a member? They have State level reps pushing their bills all the time.......if you have proof they are supporting this bill then prove it. Iowa could have had this legislation passed last time, but the NRA was the one that wanted to have licensed carry. |

Whatever you want to believe go ahead, but no permit carry was never going to go through both houses last year, regardless of what the IGO believed. Hell, we just about didnt even get the shall carry through. |

Go Iowa!
As for the NRA issue here, I have a constructive suggestion: -ASK the current candidates for the NRA's BOD where THEY stand on the issue of constitutional carry. If you are dissatisfied with the NRA, then change it into the organization that best reflects your understanding of our rights. Learn the facts and VOTE for the NRA BOD you want. Personally, I beleive in the right to not only keep, but to BEAR arms. Can anyone explain why an adult citizen without a felony record should be required to ask for governmental permission (permit) before exercising a fundamental right? |
