If you have been delayed on a NICS check vote in the poll please. |

+1, but not for many years now.
The first time I was delayed was also when I bought my first AR. The FFL was literally getting my rifle out of the safe to pass to me when the phone rang with a "proceed". The second time was not long after, for a couple of hours. After a system update or upgrade at NICS around mid December 1998, I have never had another delay. So, after roughly 2 to 3 weeks after NICS was started, I have not had another delay. Couldn't answer the poll selections. |

Poll fail. I got delayed, but it was resolved in less than 3 days. Still don't know why.
This, need a couple more options. I've been delayed (for no reason) the last 2 times I've made a purchase; the last time was at a Sportsman's Warehouse––their corporate policy is that if you are delayed, they will not sell you the gun until NICs clears you, regardless of the legal requirements (5 days was my understanding, but I see 3 is what it should be, at least according to folks on here). NICs did finally clear me after a week this last time. The time before, I don't know––I was buying an old shotgun at a Gun Show, from a FFL... they forgot to call me when I was cleared, but 3 weeks later I saw them at the next Gun Show (at a different venue), and they had my form with them... so I did end up getting the shotgun in the end. |

Never been delayed, but I usually show my CCDW so it doesn't get called in. The few times it has been called in I've been surprised I haven't been delayed. I've been finger printed for NCIC access and those prints were put in the feds database and I was born in the middle east, so I'm usually surprised those don't throw up some sort of red flags, but I guess having a name that isn't common helps me out. |

About 2 years ago I had a 'proceed' when the NICS was called in. i expect a delay and let the FFL know it will be a delay. I always pick up my purchase 3 business days later without a problem.
There is a legislative bill in the MO House & Senate that will allow us to skip the NICS check with our state issued CCW permit. As it should be. |
I only had a delay once, but it came back about 30 minutes later. Every other time it is approved instantly. BTW, in Oregon it goes through the State Police with a $10 fee. I have known other people to have longer delays, or even some bizarre denials. But I led a much more boring youth than they did ![]() |

Poll fail. Get delayed every time (due to being a permanent resident not a citizen), delay is resolved within a few hours every time, it's probably good for my wallet as it really reduce my number of impulse purchases ![]() Happens to me as well, same reason. I always get my gun after the 3 (5) day period without an order to proceed. |

It get delayed every single time I buy a firearm. My identity was stolen when I was 18, and I have about 50 alias' I never asked for, now. I get a phone call 3 days later, telling me to come pick up my new toy, every single time. Get a ccw permit, you won't have to go through the background check. |

Quoted: My only purchase with a NICS was 2 handguns I bought at the same time, and there was no delay. After that I got a CHL so I'm not required to go through NICS. Is this just for Texas or is is a federal thing? I think states have the option to allow the CHL to qualify as the background check if it meets certain standards. Texas does it, not sure about any other states. You still have to fill out the form, though. The few times I bought a gun before I got my CHL, I was never delayed. Then again, I have a very unusual last name, and an unusually spelled first name. |

This. What's strange is that I used to get delayed all the time, then in 2002 I was falsely accused of Domestic Battery and took a year's hiatus to fight the charges. Once they were dropped in 2003 I bought a 1911 a week later. I passed NICs with no trouble then and never been delayed since. |
