I picked up a Ruger SR9C for $375 for the spousal unit and traded a Mossberg 510 .410 for a Kimber .22 rimfire 1911 conversion. It's my first rimfire conversion kit and I'm pretty jazzed about it. Let's hear your scores. |

None of you fuckers bought anything at a show today? ![]() I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but I have actually never bought anything at a gun show IN MY LIFE.
Have you ever attended one? People bitch all the time about gun shows, I myself have always found great deals at the shows in my area, a couple times found some spectacular deals. |
|
Can't tell you, as I alluded to in http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1158430 because even though Texas is a huge state, revealing information that may illuminate me in reality is a no-no.
Still.....I thought I made a good buy. It had been on the wish list for quite a long while, it was a rarity, and my experience with my former arms merchant put today's price in a reasonable range. God bless the American Arms Market! ____________________________________________________________ (".......God bless the American housewife, Cleanin' up the world for you and me.........,"––lyrics, (wtte), "God Bless The American Housewife" by SheDaisy) |

My hometown show is pretty small but there's always something interesting there to buy or gawk at. There's a ton of private tables too with people who like to deal. |

You tease, you. What can I say? If I'm buying an AR-15, I can talk about it because enough are sold. If it is an AK-47, can probably get away with talking about that. But things like the Lugers, the P38, the Sten, the Mac-10 that they were selling? Sorry, those are enough of a rarity that someone perhaps could do a one to one matching....or a pretty good guess of one. _________________________________________________ ("What can I say? i bought a half pound jar from h2 targets |

Quoted: How do you like the Ruger? The trigger is much improved in the SR9C over the SR9, I like the mag setup with the full size mag and extension but I can do without the mag safety and LCI. The cocking serrations are pretty sharp also but a couple of swipes with a stone will remedy that. I think it's a great package. I helped my little sister into an SR9 last year and she loves it. She's going to buy the compact model for her CCW. |
| Went to one today. Typical bullshit dealers as always. Been looking for a GSG 1911 and found a slightly used specimen for only $50 MORE than a new one at my local gun shop. Got to break the heart of one dealer that was pushing his NIB Colt .380 Govt. Model for $900. I asked him if he paid any attention to what was announced at the SHOT SHOW this year and told him to google Colt announcements. |
| I went to the High Caliber show in Pasadena today to buy some ammo but Big Dog did not make this one so I came home and ordered it online. I did pick up a brick of 22 LR at the show. The place was quite crowded and there were lots of unwashed individuals there. At least I got out of the house for awhile. Cold front came through this morning with lots of wind and a cool down or I would have gone to the range. |

I picked up a ol' GEW. 98 today at the funshow!!!

Why are you so worried about someone finding you? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but then again, I'm 27 and involved in Internet Marketing. My entire life is online, and I use my own image to sell stuff.
Here's an example: Business Toll Free Number. That's got my name, my business name, my home town, a photo of me (and my daughter), and my phone number on it. Why would that concern me? ETA: This was targeted at Snowleopard. |

Quoted: Quoted: None of you fuckers bought anything at a show today? ![]() Hasn't been a show around these parts in a couple of months. Don't know when the next one will be, but I'll bet it isn't for a couple more. But I did find some things in EE this morning. ![]() The EE is like a fun show every day. |

Man was it crowded and bathing as usual was not required. I didn't find anything that wasn't ridiculously overpriced. I mainly look at modern pistols and AR's (of course). Even the Dealer from Bluefield who usually has lots of great stuff just had cheap stuff this time. (Cheap as in quality). May go back and get an "Infidel" shirt though. |

Well last week a good friend took me to his aunt's house to look at her recently deceased husband's firearms.
(She lives way out in the country, so most of his firearms were hunting rifles, with a few handguns. My friend picked up his Colt New Service, made in 1930, that his uncle bequeathed to him. Beautiful gun that I stripped cleaned for him this last week.) Anyways, when we got there, she had already put the rifles and remaining handguns on consignment sale with a gunshop owner nearby. We went there and I picked up a pristine 1940, Winchester 1894 carbine, in .30-.30 WCF, with a Redfield peep scope. I paid $200 for it. (The aunt told the gunshop owner to give me a good deal.) Pretty good score IMHO. But when I got it home and started to strip clean it, I saw that the rear barrel band screw was stripped, so I had to drill it out. The barrel band and screw were toast. Bought a new rear barrel band and screw for $35, including shipping.......so the gun really cost $235. (The bluing was at 95+ percent.) |
| I bought me some tube socks, beef jerky and Sham Wows then went over and looked at the sniper rifle/machine guns that special forces/shuttle/door gunner/sniper dude has with signs on them all not to to touch ever/not for sale to anyone not as awesome as him. Then went and looked at the overpriced basement reloaded magnum rifle ammo from the basement reloader guy, then called it a day the last time I went to one about ten years ago. So I'm still good for few more years before I'll feel like venturing in to one again. |
|
No I wasn't at one this weekend. Haven't been to one in about 6 months or so. Last one I was at I bought a Spike's stripped lower. Yesterday I DID order a charging handle from BCM because someone mentioned ordering one in a thread I read. <––––- Frequent impulse buyer. |

A couple weeks ago, I scored a match M14 barrel for $20 bucks. Looked kind of old and used. After I cleaned it up, I had it professionally installed on my M1A and it turned out to be a brand new, never used $400 barrel. Same show, last year, I picked up a Benelli M3 with folding stock for $800 out the door. Same show, year before that, guy thought he was ripping me off for selling his UNFIRED Russian SKS to me for $160. The mag well was hanging out. I acted stupid like it was broken. Took it home, installed it correctly and now its mint. Same show, a few years before that, guy sold me a never issued M14 barrel and TRW bolt. Got them both for $140. Moral of the story, is you never know what you'll find when you look past the beef jerky and satanic ritual swords |
|
So after going to one in Oct. last year and telling my mother the tales of jerky and beanie babies (shes still does not believe me) I talked her into going to one. Good thing to since it is across the river in Wa. no gun deals for me, going for small parts and ammo cans if I can find them.
Since vantucky (Vancouver) is kinda perched near rural area the less bathed and toothless should be kind of out in force along with the migrated urban yuff. |

I guess I'm fortunate that my local GS has many people walking in with deals and quite a few private tables. The attendance seems to be growing also. I'm seeing more and more women come to the shows too and I honestly haven't had many instances where the BO factor is high. |

I'm seeing more and more women come to the shows too and I honestly haven't had many instances where the BO factor is high. You are lucky. The shows by my house are ridiculous. Prices are WAY HIGHER than I can get from private sales or at local gunshops. Not even CLOSE. ETA: Example, 1966 Colt Python, classic 6" Blue model - $1,200 from gunshop. Finish at 98+ percent, I bought it on the spot. Nickel Python at the gunshow a couple months later - 80 percent, circa 1978, $2,400. The only mechanical difference between the two revolvers above was the nickel Python was OUT OF TIME. Oh, here's another one: Mid nineties S&W Model 686, $750 at the gunshow.
Was it in good shape(?).....no.....fair shape. (I could go on, and on, and on......) |

I'll continue ordering online and having it shipped to my local FFL/SOT. |
The Nation's Gun Show is $11 bucks ( with $1 off coupon) to get in the darn door. It's a shame when you start to feel the anus burn just getting your hand stamped.
There are a couple of good mil-surp collectors shows in my area that I usually do very well at. By and large most gun shows are for the rubes. Local shops, on-line, or the various for sale boards for most of my guns-n-stuff these days. |

For years, I had a boss who was FFL and I would get incredible deals from him. When he was retiring, he had a private sale and I picked up an Mac 11/9 at half the price or more of what I see it go at the shows. But not so much at the gun store/range I use. My USP .45 at the start of the century cost me close to $700. But the key word here is "retired". He's not in the business anymore, or not very much, I don't have those connections anymore and I doubt I will again unless I have an extremely lucky chance meeting. Quoted:

There will be my own collection, now at 4 rifles and 4 pistols, and the family's collection which goes back to 1912-14. The problem is, it is not likely to be passed on. It was placed in my hold, my caretaker status, because I have such interest, but I don't think there is anyone else like me in the family. So, if I proceed my brothers, one brother will be thinking SELL! while the other brother will be thinking donate to a museum. Have a good barrel of whiskey at my wake, guys, okay? as one considers what a waste! ____________________________________________________________ ("Maybe you want to hire me. You know how good I am. I had a blast!! got to see a dipshit with kids escorted out of the show and his ammo taken away from him. Do not have the full story soooo that is what I was watching when I left.
Passed up a deal on a dti built upper that I kicking myself for but it was not what I was looking for. It was a DTI barrel 14.5 pinned with a phantom 1x9 and magpul carbine hand guard. Mom found the candy and nut booth, she was amazed at the lack of guns worth a shit and all the junk but she did enjoy the people watching. I scored a few slings, ammo cans, and various small parts that I set out for. All in all had a kick ass time and got to get the parent involved in something and take the stigma away a bit from a roaring liberal. |
