With the unrest spreading through the ME, do any of you guys know the situation and forecast in the UAE?

More specifically, how are things for an American contractor working there for an extended period?

All is well here in Dubai. Been here for about 10 months.

I see no signs of the trouble spreading here.

Ex Pat's outnumber the locals 10 to 1 in this country

ETA: I more afraid of dying on my daily commute than from any uprising. I mean really afraid.

The UAE is the safest place in the Middle East. Lived there almost a year and never once felt unsafe. Their security forces don't put up with any crap. Go make some money and have a good time. Be sure to buy a Nissan Patrol to go bombing around the desert and stay away from the thai sex slave hookers, they have the HIV.

Glad to hear it. My sister & her family live there. Sad thing though, she's a big time lib. On vacation in Viet Nam now, like there aren't any non-communist places to go?

This is reassuring.  If we get the contract we're after I'll be spending some time there.

Thanks for the replies.
