[ARCHIVED THREAD] - FFL Transfer fees (Page 1 of 2)

How much are you guys and gals paying for an FFL transfer these days?  I've asked most of the gun stores and pawn shops in my local area and $50 per transaction is the going rate. One of the places here also charges a percentage of the cost of the gun, just for good measure.  I'm just wondering if this is a common price, is this a "good deal," or am I just screwed and I have to pay the piper...so to speak.

Been paying $35.00.  Went to Gun Broker found one near me that will do it for $10.00.

I plan on using him next time.

Gun Broker has a ffl search tool to help you find one near you.

I found a guy about 6 blocks away via the gunbroker FFL locator.  He charges me $20 and is willing to order anything he can for me at his dealer cost, +10% if I can't find it cheaper elsewhere.  He also shows me whatever else he has that other folks haven't bothered to pick up yet.  Nice fellow.

I think all the dealers in town got together over beers and set the price so nobody is doing any better than anyone else.

All the gunshops around are about $45. I use a guy who does transfer out of his basement for $20. But WA has some retarded sales tax on out of state transfers. In my city sales tax is almost 10%, so the cost of an FFL transfer is more like $70-100+.

$18, but throughout the area it varies from $15 up past $50 IIRC.

The three places I do most my business locally do it for $35-$50. Another place, with the initials J'sF and filled to the brim with hardcore fat old fuds that seemingly don't know jack shit about anything firearm related, quoted me $110 . Fuck that noise haha

Thanks for the Gunbroker FFL search comment. I've found some basement dwellers who go for less than $50. Thanks so much for the reminder that GB is all worthless.

$15 - 25. 1 shop is $15, the other is $25, often discounted.

Yes, ever going to the $25 place looks dumb, but both shops are run by friends, one owner & one on commission.

We charge $20 for used guns and $40 for new.  Many times we transfer then tell the guy if he had ordered it from us we could have saved him the transfer fee then some.

$15 - $25

ETA: There are shops that charge $50+ in the area, of course. I don't know anybody that actually uses those places for transfers, though. C3 transfers range from $50 - $100.

I have paid $15-25 in years past, and most recently a board member here did one for $20. Probably stay with him from now on. I found a gun on EE Friday night, and had it by Thursday.

The AuctionArms and GunBroker searches only work if the FFL has signed up with them.  If you want a listing of every FFL in your area, the ATF has that info available at http://www.atf.gov/about/foia/ffl-list.html.
