A friend's son who is a cub scout was recently in a pinewood derby and came in dead last. Now she is sooooo proud of him for "winning" this "turtle trophy". Am I the only one who finds this asinine? I remember building a ca .... okay it wasn't a car at all it was more like a crippled brick with three square wheels and when I finished dead last it was not celebrated and there was no trophy. So I made a better car next year. Why do we reward failure? Or is this the norm for kids now? No, I do not have any kids. |
