I work in the retail furniture & appliance business, so I get to deal with Consumer Reports addicts more than most.  I guess that they provide some value to folks that don't deal with buying TVs, appliances, new cars, etc. regularly - which is just about everyone - but I don't understand some people's blind faith in what Consumer Reports publishes.

For example - clothes washers. A Kenmore is rated #1, some GE model #2 and a Whirlpool #3.  The puzzler?  The Whirlpool and Kenmore units are identical except for the branding.

I'd wager that back when Honda was selling the Passport that it was rated better than the Isuzu Rodeo, even though they were the exact same vehicle.

I'm convinced that the writers & editors of Consumer Reports are all shareholders in Honda, Samsung and Sears.

Do you consider Consumer Reports the final word on all major purchases?

They are FOS.

Used to be they would slam anything made in the US and pimp everything made elsewhere.

Didja know the editors hubby was a VP for Panasonic? No conflict there...

Now they love GM & Toyota sucks.

Obama-guzzling libtard idiots unqualified to evaluate a tampon.

I go to eopinions.com or any number of consumer review sites. The times I have looked at consumer reports I was amazed at the lack of information.
