| You put a sling on the back, loop it around your neck and over one shoulder, and instead of squeezing the gun against your shoulder you push it out against the sling. I've never shot the XM8, but I've used the technique with AK pistols and pistol gripped shotguns and it works fairly well. |

Hmm, I just bought a 10.5" AR pistol, just because I could (no SBR in CA). I thought they were useless until I saw this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jId1Vz0WvgQ&feature=player_embedded So you see you can shoulder an AR pistol, but with the XM8 CC there is no projecting buffer tube. Plenty of guys do use the single-point sling/push-forward shooting method with AR pistols, but I'm skeptical. |
The thing that's odd looking at it was how it didn't have one picatinny rail on the whole damn rifle!
The fact that the guy holding the gun is wearing forest camo gives me perspective as to how long ago it was... seems like only a year or so ago. Damn time flies...LOL... -ZA |

I've tried it with AK pistols, and would call the technique to be Minute of Barn accurate. I guess at room distances it would be ok, but it is still much less effective than having an actual stock. |

PDW for vehicle crews. With good ammo, 9" is plenty of barrel to do killin' inside of 50 yards or so. yea, it is also good enough to burst your ear drums and clear your sinuses when you light one off from your vehicle. I would MUCH rather have a 12" barrel for that role than a 9", at least with a caliber like 5.56mm, which is a poor caliber choice for a PDW type weapon. |

The only "good ammo" for US regulars is M855, all else is verboten and M855 doesn't fragment when fired from a 9" barrel. The reason this worthless variant of the XM8 was made was to pass the weight requirement for the even more worthless OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon) Which just goes to show that two 1/2 assed ideas can make one big steaming pile shit. |

Quoted: Okay I know the program is dead, but the Compact Carbine varient has me puzzled. Did the specs for this originate in the Army, or from HK? 9" barrel, okay, but what about the vesion with no buttstock, just an end cap? Of what utility would that be, really? From wiki: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c8/XM8Compact.jpg/800px-XM8Compact.jpg http://airsoftxm8.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/AirsoftXM8.org-XM8-3.png Believe they were made for a PDW role. They did have a small collapsible stock for some of them I remember seeing a pic of it on here somewhere; it was much like the HK 416Cs wire stock. There has to be some idiot somewhere stating there is a need for a PDW type weapon, never mind the fact there is a HUGE saturated market for purpose built weapon systems with built from the ground up for that role. Kinda makes you think who is giving the interest for these weapons. The new HK416c FN SCAR compact ![]() LWRC PSD ![]() KAC PDW ![]() Somebody has to have some kind of interest for these weapon systems, or they would stop making new ones wouldn't they? ![]() |

Hate to break it to you but the guns in that pic are in 6.8 SPC. Check the casings and the engraving on the mags. 6.8spc is MUCH better out of short barrels than 5.56. I'm sure LWRC makes 12 inchers in 5.56 as well, but I think its more a question of "what the customer wants, the customer gets" as opposed to "hey this is a great idea that we are really pushing". |
