Oddly enough that is pretty much the process that I undertook last evening with building a spudzooka with a friend of mine.  We don't have accents though.    Starting fluid + electric spark = oooh a little!  Try again!

Where in CT is that?  That is pretty sweet.  Reminds me of the classic F1 races at limerock.

I did not see any movement in that engine when it started.  Is it mounted straight to the frame?

It's a stressed member of the chassis, as in just about every F1 car since the Lotus 49.

The throttle slides are anodized green, the fluid you see is fuel coming from the injectors which are above the slides. You can see them projecting from the rear of the trumpets in the video.

Great post OP.

Really amazing power from such a small displacement power-plant.

I was tickled to get 620 hp from 358 cubes on alcohol.

Looks like you have much better engine management though.

No, but Keith Duckworth was a mechanical genius. Mike Costin still advises Triumph on motorcycle engine design, although in a rather diminished capacity of late.

I worked in the UK for a good bit of 2009-10, and I was in serious withdrawal due to the lack of both ALMS and Rolex on the tube. I'm looking forward to watching your car on Speed this year.

If I can swing it, I'll try and go to Road America this year.

Be fun to have an Arfcom section at the track.

You won't be seeing his car on Speed this year.  ALMS signed some fucked up deal with ABC/ESPN.

The 12 Hour will not be televised live, it will be some 3 or 4 hour highlight show in the Sunday after.

Shit, I hope Speed didn't fsck up the Le Mans 24. We'd be lucky to get a highlight reel out of ESPN...

I don't think it will affect LeMans itself.

I will say that back in the '60s, ABC covered LeMans.  It was a hoot watching the GT40s, Porsches, and Ferraris on an old B&W TV.

It's a GD shame that some pedophiles and preverts have been knighted for writing music but people who create mechanical art are passed over.

Yes, we will be in P1 with an ARX-01E and will carry #1 as the reigning champs. For Le Mans we will be #19. To all intents and purposes P2 has become P1 with a few changes, we will use the HPD engine again.

I know that during the season, except for Sebring and Petit, both classes are combined, but at those two races, the classes are seperated due to them being quasi-qualifiers for LeMans.

You gonna run as P1 or P2 at LeMans?

Nice. Takes me back to 1967 when I watched Jim Clark win the USGP, even as he crossed the finish line with a broken rear hub carrier. That was back when cars still looked like cars, without the wings and flippers that came just a few years later.

Larry, this year the ALMS is reverting back to separate Prototype classes, P1, P2 and LMPC. For Le Mans we are running in P1 although our invitation was for a P2 entry based on last year, we asked the ACO to make an exception and they agreed. Going up against the Audis and Peugeots is a monumental task as you can imagine.

Holy crap!  Yep, that is pretty monumental.

I had not heard about the P1 and P2 in all races.  Interesting.

I hear Aston Martin is running a P1 and building customer cars and that they are also going to field a GT car.  Don't know if that will also be factory or strictly customer cars.

I recall Steve Matchett stating that all (most?) of the F1 engines of that era were 'total loss' oil systems. If correct, is it fair to say they leaked?
