Anybody here a cable installer? I'm talking about cable TV or satellite. Saw a job on Cragslist that I'm thinking about. It'd be a 1099 type contractor position. Looks like it basically entails setting up cable TV lines at customer's homes. |

I used to be an installer for a company that was eventually bought by Cable-vision (a long time ago). It's pretty much mindless monkey work.
If they're hiring you as a 1099 contractor you will need your own truck, tools (drill, wire snake, cutters, etc), & fiberglass ladders. They're probably also going to ask you to produce proof that you have your own business insurance. How much do they pay? |

The ad said $800 to 1500 a week, but I know expenses and taxes would eat probably half of that. |

My dad is a main line tech and has been in the industry for 30+ years. He makes close to $50,000 a year. This might give you an idea on pay... http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Employer=Cox_Communications,_Inc./Hourly_Rate Pay may vary depending on what cable company owns your local market. |
