I just installed a brand new GTX 460 768mb. When i first put it in its fine, but when i installed the drivers the damn thing stops giving a signal after the windows starting screen.

I have reseated. I have reset the CMOS, I have uninstalled all other video drivers.

What OS? XP, Vista or 7?
Is your monitor capable of displaying the default resolution of the card?
Do you have a second monitor or card to plug in, to check if Windows is hosed?

Just a few random thoughts.

also the nvidia 400 series cards are notorious power eaters, may want to give some thought into checking out your power supply and seeing if it's up to the task.

I'm running windows 7 Pro.

This PC ran a GTX 470 FINE, so its not power.

What motherboard? What power supply?

Also, how is it connected? HDMI? VGA? DVI? Do you have another computer you can put it in to see if it works?

Have you tried rolling back to older set of NVIDIA drivers?  I've had similar results with older 8XXX series cards where newer drivers just crashed my machine...

Can you see the BIOS POST screen? Do you get an audio beep error? Are both 6 pin connected? Is there a loose molex causing a short?

Sounds like a resolution problem since you get all the way to the Windows screen.

Try booting in safe mode and see if that works.

I can get into safe mode. When starting up normally It gets to the starting widnows screen, then goes to load the desktop but I get a black screen and my monitor says n o signal.

Its ot resolution either. My monitor accepts every strange resolution if it doesmt like the resolution it will say incompatible.

Definitely a resolution problem. Safe mode uses a very low resolution and you likely have a very high resolution when you boot Windows normally. Try a larger monitor or lower resolution in normal mode.

Okay, so it's definitely a software problem. I should have read your OP more carefully.  Try going into safe mode and reinstalling the drivers.

Any luck in safe mode?

Nevermind I didn't read far enough.

If you get a black screen again, try hitting control alt delete and see if anything happens.

I'd start all over again.

Boot into safe mode with networking, download and install driver cleaner pro.

Run driver cleaner, remove nvidia driver.

Download latest drivers from nvidia.

Boot into normal mode, leave the "found new hardware" window in background and then run the latest nvidia driver you downloaded.

Worth a shot,

However, when I first got Windows 7 the "newer" drivers were the ones that caused the issues and the older ones were fine.

Did a clean install of windows 7 x64 Pro. Worked fine. When I installed the Nvidia drivers and the PC restarted, the signal went dead again right after the "starting windows" screen.

There is a whole 30+ page thread in Nvidia's forum about this exact issue. Apparently there is  a compatibility issue with the GTX series, yet Nvidia doesnt advertise it.
