Since when does a person get off being charged with misd. Disorderly Conduct when they threaten the life of a Congressman? As that shooting victim did to the Tea Party guy? That would fall under Terroristic Threats....a felony.

But he gets a free pass on the life threatning...he's a democratic victim.

I have no idea who you are talking about.

One of the shooting victims (shot in the leg or something) went to a Tea Party Congressmans rally and when the Congressman stated that the country should wait for the dead to be buried to start political debate (a good thing) the man got up and screamed "your dead" at the congressman. No real coverage on the news of course. Was escorted out and charged with disorderly conduct..

I heard that he took his picture before telling him "you're dead"
They showed him being escorted by two deputies on the TV.

Last I read, he was being charged with about 3 different crimes. Do you have information to the contrary?

You're dead sounds more like a statement than a threat. If there were other words, it could be made to be more. There are plenty of dead guys in Congress.

Just like only white people can be racist, only republicans can be divisive and violent.

He was just driven to expressing his dislike of the tea party, Palin and conservatives by the anger, violence and hatred of the right. Not his fault.

ETA: Interesting how he was handled with kid gloves by the police. No cuffs, probably not patted down, carrying a bottle of water and his cell phone.

I don't know what state this occured it, but that does not meet the elements for the offense of "Terroristic Threat" in Texas. It would meet the elements for "Disorderly Conduct".

I guarantee that those exact words yelled while pointing at a police officer in my town will not result in a friendly discussion about the First Amendment

Personally I wouldn't see arresting someone who had just been shot by a psychopath as a "career enhancing decision" and just would have thrown him out also.  edit Should read more carefully

It was shooting victim James Eric Fuller, and he said it to a Tea Party member at an ABC news town hall meeting, not a congressman.

Here's an interesting article about the situation...also take a look at the comments.  The one from "Johnintucson" seems to be particularly telling.  So much fail in one post...

This is the same nut that went to Loughner's parent's house to forgive him. Some also speculate that he shot himself, as he drove himself to the hospital and no one can recall seeing him at the rally. I'm not sure about the second point; just something I read.
