Something less than $60.
2 PC's (possibly a 3rd), printer and a laptop. All are within 30' of one another (actually it's more like 20' if I discount the 3rd), wood and plaster walls. Modest needs (no gaming), primarily for Internet and home networking. The laptop has a USB wireless adapter, the PC's have no wireless connection (I do have a couple of spare USB adapters that I can use until I decide if I need to install a PCI card or not). I'm about 30 minutes away from Micro Center... http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.phtml?N=4294966869, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the models/choices. |

Why? I've had linksys. My Netgear Rangemax has worked fine for 2 years. |

Why? I've had linksys. My Netgear Rangemax has worked fine for 2 years. Of the dozens of Linkys that I've worked with I've never had an issue with one, and yes I love flashing to the DD-WRT firmware, it does seem to be more stable. |

A good friend is a big tech head at Geek Squad and uses these. Was good enough for me running 4 computers a PS3 and a few 4G phones off of it wireless and two directly off the LAN. No burps. Fast and full signal out at the garage 120 feet away through the whole house, yard gaage with a lot of metal. GET THIS!! |

Most of the new routers are faster than 99% of the owners' connections.
The Linksys WRT54GL is on sale at Newegg and has the best overall rating of any router. It's more than fast enough for most homes at 54mbps. Most internet connections, I'd guess, are between 10-20mbps. Unless you're doing heavy traffic between computers on your network or streaming video from PC to tv via wi-fi, you don't need anything with the newest bells and whistles. This router is like $50 right now... BUY ME |

Way out of the OPs price range though. |

In order of preference. I like the Dlink 655 best but it's above your budget range

Linksys WRT54GL...........is the 'open source' ready firmware version of the router. Flash with Tomato firmware. You can illegally boost your signal, adjust bandwidth priorities, and other features.
The other Linksys routers may or may not be firmware friendly even within the same designation. L is for Linux version and always works. Wireless N routers will disappoint. Hardwire whenever you are streaming movies to a media center or gaming. Wireless for general surfing or music streams. |
