Went to go get some today and the shelf was bare. No I find out that the factory is shut down and no more is forthcoming. This stuff has been a life saver for my little girl and I and nothing else seems to work nearly as well.
Any suggestions? |

One thing with chronic heartburn or GERD is you really need to shop around until you find one that works for you. If she tolerated Pepcid well, then you need to find another product with Famotidine in it like Mylanta AR.
Edit: I have GERD and EE. It took me several years of trying every type of OTC reflux med plus a few prescription meds before I finally found one that worked well and I tolerated well. |

Pepcid complete contains Famotidine calcium Carbonate Magnesium hydroxide Go buy some generic Pepcid aka famotidine and Extra Strength Rolaids and you've got it all covered. It's not that hard to look this stuff up. Cracks me up that people won't read labels & do a little research, watched a lady pay twice as much money for sleeping pills that were exactly the same a Benedryl but because the box said sleeping pills and not antihistamine, she was convinced there was a difference and were worth the extra money even though both boxes said Diphenhydramine 25mg  |

CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart all have "store brand" (e.g. Equate) versions of Pepcid complete. It is just Famotidine with calcium carbonate.
Alternatively as some have pointed out, you can just get a bottle of Famotidine and some calcium carbonate tablets and take them together. If you have daily heartburn, you might consider getting Prilosec or Zegerid which don't provide quick relief bit will overall do a better job of reducing daily symptoms. ETA... The compound name for Zantac is Ranitidine and will work just as well (and in the same way) as Famotidine if you are having trouble finding Famotidine. |

My vote is for Prevacid, everything else simply didn't work for me. Good thing is it is now available in generic. I was paying $60 co-pay, now it's just $10. Not sure if it's OK for kids though.
Common misconception about heartburn, diet is NOT always the problem. I can eat low carbs, no sugar, and nothing spicy & still get it. |

I have to use Pepcid Complete also. Nothing else works at all. The Walgreen's, Walmart, and CVS generics with the same ingredients works well too.
Has she been to the doctor? Sounds like she may need a prescription. Hope she feels better, nothing is worse than a little one feeling bad. |

The new guy is a dud and we are looking to replace him. |

Basically, it's a food allergy without any outward signs of an allergic reaction. It causes a hardening of the esophagus leaving it susceptible to things like GERD. If its confirmed that she has EE, finding the allergy and removing the source also helps. |

Not a rumor. The FDA cited them for QC issues and company shut down the line. |
