looks good, how many gallons including sump? not a fan of wet/dry media for reefs, but if it ain't broke don't fix it... edit to add: notice a little hair algea, how many hermits you have in there? With a parrot and a butterfly?? Probably zero. At least the Sea-Clone skimmer seems to be working. But the million dollar question, what kind of lights are you running and whats your temp? |

I was expecting a white crusty combat vehicle. To be honest I was expecting some kind of discussion of some kind of device you'd use to do those "salt-spray test" things the military does with guns they're thinking about buying. This is way cooler, though! |

With a parrot and a butterfly?? looks like a Lunaris wrasse to me ... but those fuckers eat hermits and snails too (bird mouth wrasses are the worst thoughgh) Damn, I stand corrected Its been years for me and I didn't really focus all that much on the fish. I was into inverts and coral propagation and chemistry... It's amazing how much I've managed to forget, though. I was well known in my little area. The DC national aquarium actually featured some of my stony coral. |

what overflow system are you using? drilled tank?
I have a 55G with a syphon overflow and I want an upgrade. currently I have leathers, sun polyps, clams, all kinds of stuff but I am having an algae bloom, I think my friend did a water swap with water from the beach rather than a research company's well that they give for free. |

I wish I could remember the capacity but it's been 7 years since I bought that sump. As for the hair algae, I got lax on my water changes so I just kept up on them and pulled the hair algae out by hand. Haven't had a problem in a while. I tried hermits but that Lunar Wrasse sucked um out

The seaclown works great actually once you cut the riser tube down. I run 1 VHO Super Actinic and 1 50/50 simultaneously. Temps run between 78-82. |

Yeah, the tank came drilled. As for water, I use this and mix my own. I hated carrying water jugs back and forth from the local fish store. |

Looks good! A couple of suggestions (take em or leave em) Lose the Bio balls, and add more porous live rock to the Display tank. All those bio balls do is build up waste. I would get enough live rock rubble to fill the spot where the bio balls are and let it run that way. Or, just ditch the that altogether and run a refugium in the bottom with live rock rubble, deep sand base, and macro algae... I really miss my salt water tanks... ETA: You should get about 150+lbs of rock and build up a nice scenic reef. With the amount of coralline algea you've got going, you'd have a really beautiful rockscape. |
