Here is a thought experiment (no right or wrong answer).
You are wiring up a device and you need a Yellow wire and a Yellow with Black stripe wire. You look all over town and nobody has any Yellow wire then you realize you have some Red wire and some Blue wire. So here is the question. Do you use the Red wire in place of the Yellow wire And the Blue in place of the Yellow and Black? or Do you use the Blue wire in place of the Yellow wire And the Red in place of the Yellow and Black? Then explain your reason for your choice. |

Quoted: I just use the blue wire in place of both. I need the red wire for...other activities... This and identify the striped one with marking tape ETA, this is basically how my DC plant at work is. A red side and a blue side ( redundant ) The solid red or blue is -48vdc (pos) the striped red or blue is the 0volt (return ) |

Quoted:
Red replaces yellow, it will be positive. Blue replaces black/yellow wire, it will be negative. Red=hot=positive. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I was thinking similarly. The positive terminal on car batteries takes the red wire, so use red for positive here, too. |
