I'm at a cross road. How and the hell does everyone decide what gun to buy next??!!
I finally got my AR to where i want it (minus actually mounting my light) and its time for a christmas present for my self. I cant chose between a CZ bobwhite sxs shotty, or a dedicated .22lr cmmg upper. One part of me wants to get a classy looking double shotgun, but the other part of me knows that once i start watching my magpul dynamic dvds, i'm going to want to put some serious lead down range (hence the .22lr). Chances are i'd shoot the .22lr more....BUT ever since i put a bobwhite up to my shoulder its been in the back of my mind.... I cant buy both, that would be over a 1K (that i cant justify to use on toys). They would both probably cost the same (when adding in the mags and optics for the .22lr upper) So how do y'all do it.......my brain hurts.... |

Various ways. I have and desire guns that are purely functional. Gunpowder powered toasters. Nothing more, nothing less. Tools, if you will. (G19, AR Carbine, Rem 870). I have guns because I was drawn to their historical or mechanical attributes. They are in nice condition and well maintained shooters. No safe queens. No engraved, ivory-handled sillyness. Just good historic wood and steel. (i.e. Colt Woodsman, Detective Special, Winchester 52, C&R stuff, etc, etc.) I have and desire other guns that are blend a little bit of both. (I.e. Good BHP, 1911, Krinkov, etc.) Some folks like to buy guns that are unique or that look badass. I have very little use for goofy one-offs, or silly production guns like desert eagles, serbu shorties, Calico, Feather, etc, etc. Some are just investments in hopes & dreams like the SCAR and ACR. A .22LR upper seems to be very functional. If used for training, I'd look at adapters rather than uppers. No need for that much accuracy. Much cheaper. And equally functional. |

Over $500 for the shotty. $364 plus shipping on the upper, plus mags (another 50-60), plus sight (tack on another 75)...add in shipping about $500 |

| I had to stop myself from buying another handgun before I had a dedicated carbine. So I decided on a DelTon kit and will be buying a lower after Christmas. After that gun purchases are going to go way down because I will be buying as much .223 and 5.56 ammo as I can plus mags, an optic, a light, etc. etc. etc... You just have to weight the pros and cons and make a decision. I think the .22 upper sounds like a good idea. |
