GSG9 vs SWAT > General Discussion

I honestly expected GSG9 to win. Lots of anti-terrorism experience dealing with angered Muslims with guns and various other Radicals, plus the threat of Communist invasion.

Clearly the SWAT guys were not from Dallas PD.

I think it's the Deadliest Warrior series.

Pretty fucking stupid comparison. There is only one GSG9, how many SWAT teams are there? How many SWAT teams are flown to other countries to perform counter terror ops? I'm sure that the German police have SWAT style teams and a comparison against one of those teams would have been an even match

I think it was Deadliest warrior episode LAPD swat vs GSG9. I didn't agree with the outcome....

Doesn't SWAT mostly conduct drug raids?

and isn't GSG9 a mostly counter terrorism unit?

You'd think that terrorist are more dangerous than druggies.

Yep, the guy who runs the simulations seems like a total douche to me.

ETA: IMO the outcomes have more to do with his personal likes rather than reality.

all SWAT teams are not created equal, and their policy dictates what they will cover...some are just high risk warrant servers, other teams cover everything and train to the equivalent of a special forces team

SEK would be a relative equivalent, sort of a regional-level SWAT. GSG-9 is no longer used outside of Germany, they have KSK for that now.
