I have a 07 Trailblazer. My wife told me that my driver side brake light was out. I had a spare so I attempted to change it. The new lamp would not work, Thinking it was a bad bulb, I tried the turn signal lamp and still no avail. The turn signal works, and the bulbs work.

The passenger side tail light works, so I am ruling out the fuse.
what are your thoughts? could it be a ground? if so does anyone know where that would be for the tail light?

Sounds like the fluid is low.

I had a Dakota that had a wire corrode at the connector.  I checked everything and couldn't find a problem.  I then went to checking wires.  I pulled on each wire and one pulled out.  I disassembled the connector, restripped the wire, worked my ass off to reuse the old crimped connector.  It took a long time to get it opened up without destroying it.  Once I had it opened up, I put the newly stripped wire in it and crimped it.  I then reassembled the connector and it fixed the problem.

Check the contacts in the socket where the bulb makes contact.  It gets corroded or burned.

My 03 Trailblazer had a recall on that.

Try the brake light from the working side in the side with the brake light out.

If that doesn't work, might be a wiring problem.

Sometimes tail lights don't work in brake light sockets.

ETA:  One time I thought I had a proper spare brake light but it wasn't the right one.......so it didn't work.
