| for the military guys...how often, after taking a pt test, do you hear: "well I did 85 pushups, but they only counted 45." Its the same guys with the same excuse every time. Really grinds my gears. |
Never until this year. We can't have our own PTLs to count our pushups anymore, now we have mega-nazi civilians that count about a third of them. ![]() ETA: Does anybody else think that 57 (perfect, 90* elbows when down, locked when up) pushups in 60 seconds is an unreasonable standard for a 39 year old male? |

Yep, my Capt only got 30 something pushups counted. He's the most ridiculously in shape person I know, and only about 1/2 were counted. |

ETA: Didn't the old Air Force test go by points, where you could max two parts, fail the third and still pass by overall points? That sounds like my version of heaven. | I never had problems with it, but have seen others. Normally the person is not doing them right, but I have seen a section Sgt fucking a guy he didn't like, dude was knocking out shitloads of good pushups, Sgt just wasn't counting them because he wanted to fail the guy. |

It just takes one person with little-dick syndrome to screw you over good. |

Max Push-ups, Max Sit-ups, fuck the run! For several years you have needed a 75% out of a possible hundred to pass, that hasn't changed. The run was 50 points, your abdominal circumference was 30 points (to get max points you need a 32" belly, they measure about at your belly button). The pushups and situps were worth a whopping ten points each. The changed things this year, now the run is 60 points, the fat belly is 20 (and you max it at 35" instead of 32), and the pushups and situps are still 10 points each. With the "new and improved" test you have minimums you must meet in each category as well. |

From my experience it says a lot about the lack of quality pushups/situps before the cvilians took over - the standard for pushups/situps form is the same it just wasn't enforced that much before. |

Max Push-ups, Max Sit-ups, fuck the run! Kinda. We didn't used to have a "fail" line on any particular part. However, if you did bad in one section you had to do amazing in the others to pass. I don't know what the complaining is about the new one. Putting my scores from my last PT test into the new program my score goes up 10 points. More weight on the run. |

Quoted: Quoted: snip I still can't believe the waist measurement is part of your PT test. I know, it's ridiculous. The best part is it isn't weighed against height, age, or any other factor. Until the new standards we expected a 6'4" 40 year old to have the same waist size as a 5'6" 18 year old. We basically adopted our new PT test from the Navy, so I blame those bastards for the "abdominal circumference" bullshit. Yes, I am fat, though hopeful I can get to 35" at some point, only 3 more to lose. |
I remember doing the minimum amount of pushups and situps and standing up just to piss off my Squad leader.......
Of course I never failed the run, I always loved running and didn't want to risk failing that by thinking I had 5 more seconds to cross the finish line. The PT test is sort of a joke, along with the tape and weight. |

I was holding the feet of and counting for a really cute girl doing situps one time. She let rip the biggest fart I've ever heard from a female.
As I recall, my count was something on the order of: 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... DOORKNOB! 7... The entire line just fucking lost it and we had to send everyone to the back of the line and start over. Two groups later, everyone was still laughing. I swear the whole company scored 5-10 reps lower because of that.

Should be no sweat to pass. |

How many 39 year old civilians out of a hundred do you think could do 27 pushups in a minute, the minimum? How many could do 57? Ask the same two questions for the 18 year old populous. The USAF minimum for 18 year olds is 33 by the way, not 54. We get one minute to do them, not two like the Army. |
