| ...see a random post in a thread, notice the poster is basically unknown to you and then your jaw drops when you see he has 10K or 15K posts? |

...see a random post in a thread, notice the poster is basically unknown to you and then your jaw drops when you see he has 10K or 15K posts? Some guys only post in the technical forums. You meet a lot of guys at hometown get togethers that you have no idea who they are but they remember every drunk post you ever wrote or say they refuse to hang out in GD because it's just too juvenile or raw. |

Found one right here ^^^^^ ![]() |
| This is one forum that I can never keep up on. There are a few standouts that I recognize, but the amount of 10k and more posters amazes me. All the other forums I'm on, gun and non-gun related, have a core group of the regulars with high counts and then the rest. |

I hate it when that happens.

| If you really want to see how they do it just do a search for their username in the tech forums. You'll see that 99% are GD Rangers and don't have the foggiest clue about firearms or the AR outside of video games or movies, but they'll be the first to feel insulted when someone points out their obvious lack of knowledge. |

I hit GD a lot because it keeps me awake at 4 am on a Monday when there isn't a single damn thing to do at work. But I do try to hit the Tech forums.... I was hitting the Survival side for a while but that dropped off.... It's weird for me. But then again I'm not even past the 10k mark. So I'm a nobody. |

GD is a bit faster paced and sometimes you can get a firearm related question answered quicker. I'll do a test. But the obvious post-whores are what I'm referring to. The pathetic bottom dwellers that post a caveat of "don't talk shit about my BOTD pics because the rulz sayz so" or continuously fed the "my friend the badass" troll. I'm not talking about anyone specifically but if the shoe fits, well, you still have no credibility. |

What is the fascination with post counts anyway? A dumbass with 10000 posts is still a guy who posted 10000 dumbass posts. Right? I have always wondered this myself. This is the only forum I have been on where people are discounted bacause of their post count. Low post count= slack-jawed know-nothing. . If you have no team membership you fall into the same category.
The way some of these people get 5 digit post counts is by posting "IN", "+1" or " ." Essentially not adding anything of value to a thread.

Essentially not adding anything of value to a thread. There are some cases, including myself, that use a fairly non-descript response as a way of "tagging" or subscribing to a thread. The subscribe feature makes it somewhat obsolete but every once in a while I'll forget to hit the "tag" button and still do it the "old way". |
