What unit is associated with the number 216 and The Black Sheep?

Are you thinking VMF 214? AKA VMA 214? A USMC fighter squadron in WWII. Currently a USMC attack squadron. Nicknamed "The Black sheep" Famous for the 70's T.V show featuring the WWII exploits of the squadron and their famous/infamous C.O. Pappy Boyington.

I know VMF 214 was named the Black Sheep, and later became VMA 214

Apparently its a combat engineering battalion from the Ohio National Guard. I can't find anything mentioning the black sheep though.

There's a 216th Engineer Battalion (Heavy) with the Ohio National Guard.

Maybe one of their Companies or Platoons is nicknamed "The Black Sheep"?
