Does anyone know if there is a chart that shows a comparison between processors? I am looking at upgrading my CPU and want to see which of the following is actually a faster processor.
2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 or 2.80GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon ""Nehalem""" |

Quoted: Here's a simple comparison chart: AMD is the rebellion, Intel is the evil empire. Do NOT buy from the empire. Ok, fine we get it. You work for the Rebel Alliance Micro Devices. ![]() |

They don't have their own fabs, and IIRC Intel has the only decent fabs in the US, so can you really fault AMD for using TSMC and GloFo? |

Intel chips are made here, and they are bringing more US Production online as I type this. |

Oh good grief. ![]() Why don't you check on where they package the parts, assembly, test, etc. before you claim that Intel is "American made". Besides - the fab employees are low pay, while the Israel design team is the one that's pulling in the big bucks. But keep that myopic view... |

Quoted: afaik intel is stomping amds ass at the moment. i buy who ever is best I have no problem with people buying whatever is best for them, but keep this in mind: AMD still brings a lot of value to the market. If everyone purely bought on performance RIGHT NOW, AMD would be out of business and you can all happily go back to paying $2000+ for a new Intel CPU. I'm not saying buy AMD out of benevolence, but there are applications other than the fastest of the fast where AMD brings compelling value to the table. |

Intel's largest operation/fab is located in the Hillsboro, OR area. Intel is investing an additional 6-8 billion USD in the Hillsboro area to include bringing a new American Fab online. The company is looking to hire more than 1000 Americans for permanent jobs and roughly 8000 construction jobs. Intel also has fabs across the country. I assure you Intel is more "American Made" than AMD ever will be. |

AMD: Decent processors for a cheap price.
Intel: Top of the line processors, but you pay more. Oh, and when you see the size of those fabs that Intel has in the US, you will not doubt that they employ a lot of people here. I live next to the Rio Rancho fab and that thing is friggin' huge. Unless something has changed recently, it is the largest fab in the world. You drive by almost 1/2 mile of buildings, then when you count the parking lot, it's well over 1/2 mile. The latest fab there is has over 400,000 sq-ft of clean room space. |
