It takes a lot longer to fill out each individual box when you don't fill in the straight ticket box.

They need a "Straight ticket EXCEPT..." option.

Way worth it.  It took me, from the time I left my house, voted, and returned, exactly 21 minutes.

Yeah, I voted for all repubs, and where they weren't in a race, pulled the lever on the libertarians against the dems.

They have a "Straight ticket EXCEPT..." option

To enter a straight-party vote completely fill in the box to the left of the name of that party.  Selecting a party automatically selects all candidates associated with that party.  If you select a candidate associated with a party other than the straight-party selection, your vote for that candidate will be counted in that particular contest. The electronic version works the same way.

Where are you in Texas?

You got lucky..  I live and vote in different places so i had to go out to the poll, stand in line over an hour, vote, then sit in rush hour back into Arlington...

They have a "straight ticket option" ?!?!?!

WTF is this bullshit?

We do have a straight ticket box, but I never use it since there's often a local race where I can comfortably pick someone from the opposite party.

This time was an exception.

Oh, and I voted against the bond referendum / levy as well.  The county is playing games with people's RE assessments and keeping them higher than sales prices so they can keep taxes up, and then they turn around and put a bond referendum on the ballot as well.  I ain't playing that game.

Yeah.  You can check just one box.  All democrats, all republicans, all libertarians, etc, instead of doing each one individually.

Here are the instruction from the sample ballot at http://www.dalcoelections.org/nov22010/SampleBallot.pdf

INSTRUCTION NOTE:
Vote for the candidate of your choice in each race by darkening in the oval provided to the left of the name of the candidate.
Straight-Party Vote
You may cast a straight-party vote (that is, cast a vote for all the nominees of one party) by darkening in the oval provided to the left
of the name of the party of your choice. If you cast a straight-party vote for all the nominees of one party and also cast a vote for an
opponent of one of that party's nominees, your vote for the opponent will be counted as well as your vote for all the other nominees
of the party for which the straight-party vote was cast.

The instructions are a little clearer on the Denton County ballots.  On the Dallas County ballot, it almost sounds like you will vote twice if you select straight-party and then vote for someone else in another race: once for the straight-party vote and once for the other selection.
