$29.43 for basic cable and I had enough....went to Radio Shack and spent $120 bucks on a HD antenna and 50' of cable.

Getting the same channels for nothing.

I know it will take 4 months to break even but it is worth it....

I get my interwebs from the AT&T monopoly.

I get my TV free with an antenna.  I have not paid for TV in over a year, and I can't believe I wasted money on it for so long.

Once you kick cable or satellite to the curb you won't go back!

An HD antenna is just a regular antenna with "HD" on the box.  Take that bitch back and get yourself a decently priced one from somewhere else for much less.

I told Charter to stick it when basic cable topped $40/month on one TV....and that was in the late '90s

Try Netflix. It's under $10/month and has most of the tv shows I'll watch streaming via pc, wii, xbox, ps3. And there's the DVD mailing too.

Fuck cable TV. I don't miss paying for commercials.

They sucked on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

We still have 2300 baud out there.

An antenna's great if you can get a damn signal.  With analog transmissions using a large rotary antenna 30 feet off the ground I could get 12 channels––some were a little fuzzy, but watchable.  With digital its all or nothing, and I got nothing.

I f#@king hate paying for tv....

Your antenna requirements depend entirely on your location relative to the broadcast towers in your area.  Start with antennaweb.org.  Post the table you get and I can tell whether or not you need a $10 antenna or an $80 antenna.  I'm 25 miles from the transmitter and use a $20 UHF antenna mounted in the attic.

Tried the $10 antenna today and it was not up to the task.   Also I do not like the rabbit ears.   I am back to my original radio shack purchase and loving free TV.

I have had several different cable/internet companies, but Charter is the worst by far.  Any company that goes bankrupt isn't well run.

Yeah, an "indoor" antenna usually won't cut it unless you live really close to the cluster.

I got an outdoor antenna and simply laid it in the attic, pointing toward the direction given to me by antennaweb.org.  Fishing the coax cable to the jack was the hard part.

I did but only to get The Pacific, which sucked.  Afterwards I went to cancel and they knocked it down to $10 a month over what I was paying for Cable Internet.

I sure don't miss any of them.  My parents have DirecTV at their house in the mountains.  Last time I was up there Discovery History were still playing the same reruns I saw two years ago.  I've taken up reading books for entertainment instead.

Plus, the money you could save can be spent on ammo.
