I posted this in the War gaming forum but I thought the GD might be interested in this as well. Version .95 of the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2 is now avaliable for preload. The new version goes live next friday October 15.

I don't have Arma2 yet. I'm waiting for a more in depth release of the PR mod for that game before I buy it.

I love Project Reality. RSS really put a lot of work into what they do, and even the Community modders are top notch. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Damnit... would it kill them to actually show gameplay footage instead of theatrical bullshit?



I can't wait to get my hands on it, but don't want to get my hopes up.

Most of that, if not all, is gameplay footage. They just know how to make it pretty and teaser trailer like.

I play it and enjoy it.  It's much slower-paced than the vast majority of fps but the combat seems a lot more 'tense' to me.



PR is developing a new mod for arma2.  I suspect they are looking for a bf2 exit strategy.

I havent played in a while because my Mumble stopped working for some reason. PR isnt the same without mumble.

I suspect they are going to make the PR:arma2 mode like the BF2 mod but only better because of the newer engine and what it can support.



They already have an insurgency mode like in BF2:PR but all the caches are spawned from the begining of the maps and the defending force won't know which cache Bluefor knows about.

did they ditch the rally points? I haven't played in awhile but I downloaded the new one a couple weeks ago and haven't had time to play much.

Added code that prevents players from using enemy kits other than rifleman variants indefinitely (rifleman, rifleman specialist, rifleman at, rifleman ap). It gives a message for 15-20 seconds (enough time to get ammo/field dressings), then it blacks out the screen for 15 seconds more after which it kills the player if he doesn't drop it.


So I kill a sniper/marksmen or grenader and I can't use his kit, that's some bullshit.

damn dude that is going to suck. If I kill an enemy sniper and I don't have anything special I want his damn kit!









This update is going to suck, it's going to suck alot of fun out of the game.
 







and I'm not real big on the 3d scopes. The dot on the aimpoint it hard to see now. ETA: is there a way to adjust brightness on it?

They'll change it back after everyone bitches about it for a week.  They always do.
