Playing the other night, 2-5 holdem.
Had been playing for about 4 hours and was up about $170, I cashed in for $300 so roughly $470 on the table. Table was pretty loose and anything worth a shit was getting busted and I couldn't hit a flop with good cards to save my life. AK, KQ would be shit but K8 would be a winner...that kind of night. Anyway, I had decided to leave at 1:00. It's 1:00 and I get dealt what I already decided is my last hand. 6,9 suited, I'm two seats behind the button. I decide to play it then there's an $80 bet and I change my mind, then there are 4 callers before it even gets to me. I change my mind again and call the $80. All told there are 6 players, so $500 pot. Flop comes 6,9,5 rainbow. Checks all the way around to me and I push all in for $390. The guy that made the preflop bet sits there for a while then calls. Everyone else folds except for a guy that I know is at least $1900 in and I've already decided that he doesn't have shit. Turn comes 6 and I figure I'm golden with the boat. Other two guys both check. River comes a queen. Preflop guy doesn't bother betting, checking or anything else, he throws down Q,Q for the bigger boat. I just laughed. I have no idea how he could even consider calling my $400 bet in the first place. He had to know that his only out was a Q. Guess I should have left at 12:45. |

I would have bet hard with high pair, and would've felt I had won with trips.[div] I wouldn't have shown my queens early, because it just adds to the embarrassment if you get beat. I would have thrown more money at it if I had it on the table. I really didn't want anyone to call, just wanted to take the pre-flop bets and call it a night. |

Should have tossed em before the flop. [but you knew that]
Every time that happens to me I know I should have gotten away for free. Catching the boat is a hell of a long shot and even catching 2 pair like you did doesn't mean you will win. I always think "ok if I catch a piece of the flop, I got a pair of 9s against at least a jack high" Not the hand I want any part of so I get out. Unless I can play for the price of the blinds. |

It's my experience at the casinos....you can't push anyone out unless you have been seriously kicking everyone's ass. Some dipshit will play every fucking hand. |

And usually river out on you with a hand that any sane person would have chucked before the flop.

I'll throw $80 preflop at a $500 pot if I've only got one card. |

Freakin river rats. lol I almost always lose with pocket queens. ![]() we call 'em steamboat captains, but yeah same thing. OP, getting over 6 to 1 on my money would've made me think twice before folding pre-flop. but if I'm ready to get up, I'm ready to get up. Still 6 to 1...I probably would've pushed all in too. ETA: Usually, pocket Jacks get me in trouble (fishhooks), but as of late they've been nice to me. |

I'll throw $80 preflop at a $500 pot if I've only got one card. Oh, I don't blame the guy with Queens at all. Short of trips or a straight he had the board covered. Murphy just bit you on the ass that hand. I'm talkin about the guys who's second to act at full table that'll call a big raise by the guy under the gun with a 2/9 O/S. Hit nothing on the flop but still call a stiff bet that's already been called by 2 other people, then hit running deuces on the turn and river and skull-fuck the entire table. And do it more than once ![]() ![]() while tellin you all that he just "finessed "you. And the dumb fuck actually means it.
Anybody play with guys like that? Cause it'll give you high blood pressure real quick. |
