a guy I work with occasionally mentioned he had some guns he wanted to sell.  I said I was always interested in guns so I went by to see them (took the 3 boys, bad idea). He had 2 double barreled shotguns, one hammered that he wanted a couple hundred for, and a KMart marked Boito, it had surface rust with some pitting on the outside, but the internals and bore were pristine, he also had a Remington 600 in .243 (mild surface rust, pristine bore) and a Parker Hale in .308 Norma Mag (mild surface rust, stock has a burn mark, mag plate is broken and was fixed with screws and bailing wire, bore looked good).

I picked up the .243 and Boito for $75 each

using steel wool and FP10 I gave them a rub down, the boito will serve as a shooter, which is all I wanted it for, and the Remington cleaned u beautifully, except for the stock, which has some of the finish lifted off, I will redo it one of these days

He said all these guns belonged to his father, and he has had them since his parents died in the flood of '88, which is where these all got some moisture on them causing the rust, the .243 still had flood mud all over the stock (which is what lifted the finish)

the wife took the camera to her training week for work, once she is back pictures will be forthcoming

he does not know what he wants for the parker hale, I might wind up with it yet too
